Paris officially announced the 5th signing! Lucas signed a 3-year contract with a transfer fee of 50 million

Paris Saint-Germain's official website announced on Sunday that they have successfully brought in Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich, which is also their fifth signing in the summer window. It is reported that the two sides signed a 3-year contract with a transfer fee of 50 million euros.

Lucas Hernandez moved from Atletico Madrid to Bayern Munich in the summer window of 2019 for €80 million, becoming the most expensive player in the club's history. However, due to multiple injuries, he has only made 107 appearances in the past four seasons, scoring two goals and providing eight assists on the field with an attendance rate of just 41%.

Since undergoing ligament surgery for his right knee in 2019, Lucas has suffered five serious injuries. His last appearance was against Australia at the World Cup in November 2022, after which he injured the cruciate ligament in his right knee and did not resume training until March 10, making his team training debut on May 23.

Frequent injuries and low appearances have caused Lucas Hernandez's value to slip from €70 million at his peak to €45 million. Although his contract with Bayern will run until 30 June 2024, Lucas wants to leave Bayern in the summer window and has rejected a contract extension offered by the club.

In the end, Paris Saint-Germain reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to pay a transfer fee of 45 million euros with additional terms of up to 5 million euros. This makes Lucas the second-highest transfer fee player in Bayern's history after Lewandowski.

Following an agreement between the two clubs, Lucas underwent a medical examination at Paris Saint-Germain on June 30 and signed a three-year contract with the club. Since Lucas is a Marseille, after media reports of the signing of Lucas in Paris, some Parisian fan organisations said they would not welcome him.

It should be noted that according to the terms of the contract, after Lucas Hernandez joins Paris, Atletico Madrid will receive a 5% secondary transfer share. At the same time, Bayern Munich also quickly found a replacement for Lucas, who will pay 50 million euros in liquidated damages to sign Napoli's Kim Minya.

At present, Paris Saint-Germain have signed Skriniar, Asensio, Ugarte/Lee Gangren and Lucas Hernandez, and have already finalized the addition of Ndol. However, they still want to sign Bernardo Silva, Harry Kane or Osmayne during the summer window.
