British financial services firm Limitly studied more than 1.4 million comments on Tripadvisor to select the top 10 most popular tourist attractions in the UK.
Among them, the famous London landmark "The London Eye" Ferris Wheel won the most popular attraction, receiving up to 34,975 mentions. The London Eye is a permanent landmark on the city skyline and is the world's first observation wheel. Through the rotating perspective, you can have a 360-degree view of the human and natural landscapes on the banks of the River Thames, such as Big Ben and the British Parliament Building. (Figure 1)
In second place is Edinburgh Castle, which has only been mentioned 16,889 times. Towering above the extinct volcanic rocks, it overlooks downtown Edinburgh and can be seen on all corners of the city centre, where the Military Tattoo is held every August. (Figure 2)
Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge ranked third, with 4,444 mentions. It spans Bristol's Avon Gorge and is one of the first large-span suspension bridges in the world. On April 1, 1979, four members of the Oxford University "Dangerous Sports Club" in the United Kingdom performed the world's first bungee jump on the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, and the members of the Oxford University Adventure Club in the United Kingdom jumped from the local 245-foot-high Clifton Bridge with an elastic rope, opening the curtain of modern bungee jumping.
