The Elizabeth Tower in the British Parliament building has been surrounded by iron frames for three and a half years due to maintenance needs, and hundreds of craftsmen have carried out the largest restoration since 1859, in which the masonry structure was restored, the metalwork replaced, and repainted and gilded.
Nick Sturge, the project manager in charge of the special project, said the dismantling of the scaffolding was a "huge milestone" for the value project, costing up to £79.7 million ($107 million).
