St. Andrews Bay (54.26°S, 36.11°W) [Fireworks] [Fireworks]

St Andrews Bay, a bay on the east coast of the South Georgia Islands, is one of those great and amazing places on earth. Some of the great places are not easy to reach, and the wide three-kilometer bay is full of rough waves, and not every arrival can be landed. Facing the sea, easy to prey, undulating terrain and vast hinterland, it is the largest king penguin habitat in South Georgia, with 300,000 chirping and strongly smelling king penguins perched on a three-kilometer-long beach covered with black sand and pebbles, and even if the weather and sea conditions allow for landing, the dense and ubiquitous king penguins still make the landing extremely challenging. Coincidentally, it is also a beach in the South Georgian Islands where elephant seals breed. Stretching out of the beach with a ridge overlooking the main habitat, with breathtaking views and sounds, it's the perfect venue for taking countless photos of king penguins in the same frame. Since the king penguin breeding cycle is the longest of all penguins, you are guaranteed to enjoy the extraordinary wildlife wonders whenever you visit. The name St Andrews as a bay dates only back to the early 20th century, but the first person to see and map it was likely to be a British expedition led by Captain Cook in 1775.
