According to statistics, there are currently 150 species of wild animals under national key protection recorded in Shanghai, and wild animals can thrive freely in 22 wildlife habitats and 4 nature reserves.

Habitat and rural farming go hand in hand
The unique life forms and ecological functions of frogs have become an important part of protecting the environment and maintaining ecological balance. Located in the Dazhi River Ecological Corridor, the important habitat of Pujiang frog wildlife covers an area of about 10 hectares, where the well-preserved natural environment and vegetation community have been observed, and the Chinese toad, Zelu frog, ornamental frog, black spotted side fold frog and golden line side fold frog have been observed, all of which are key protected wild animals in Shanghai. Nowadays, it is also listed as a terrestrial wildlife shelter and rescue point in Pujiang Town.
Many of the habitats are designed specifically for frogs, and the aquatic vegetation in the water system can not only purify the water body, but also create a suitable habitat for frogs to inhabit. The ecological revetment forms water levels with different gradients, increases the shallow water area, and creates conditions for frog water and land activities. At the same time, different native wet preparations provide a rich insect food.
The reporter visited the habitat and found that the tadpoles that had previously grown into young frogs in the conservation area are expected to grow into new wild frogs by June.
The habitat is accompanied by the rural farming in Pujiang Town, and the open area is connected to the outside world, so that frogs have a broader living space. Broaden rescue channels and restore survivability in the wild

Zhao Ming, the relevant person in charge of the terrestrial wildlife shelter and rescue point in Pujiang Town, counted the wild animals that have "appeared" in Pujiang over the years, and said that after the establishment of rescue agencies at the district and town levels, citizens can directly contact and reflect relevant clues when they find wild animals.
"If a citizen finds an injured wild protected animal, the safety management personnel of our emergency center or the police station will escort them to the shelter and rescue point, take advantage of the rich wetland conditions and aquatic terrestrial conditions here for temporary rescue, and then send them to the district-level terrestrial wildlife shelter and rescue center, or the park and zoo that can receive them conditionally, according to the relevant regulations on wildlife protection. ”
According to the relevant person in charge of the forestry station of Minhang District, there are hundreds of terrestrial wildlife shelters and rescues in Minhang District every year, and the establishment of district-level terrestrial wildlife shelter and rescue centers and terrestrial wildlife shelter and rescue points in towns and towns is of great significance for protecting the ecological environment, maintaining public health, carrying forward social love and wildlife protection science.
The Regulations of Shanghai Municipality on the Protection of Wild Animals, promulgated last year, clearly further broadened the channels for shelter and rescue, requiring the competent authorities to strengthen the capacity building and overall coordination of shelter and rescue, and clarifying that organizations and individuals engaged in scientific research, artificial breeding and other activities of wild animals may be organized to participate in shelter and rescue work in accordance with the law, so as to further expand the channels for shelter and rescue. At present, Shanghai has set up 14 district-level temporary shelter and rescue points, He Xin believes that there are multiple channels to provide timely rescue and protection for wild animals, and on this basis, he expects to have a more professional team and more accurate financial support to restore the ability of wild animals to survive in the wild and eventually return to nature.
