The 55W 12th Generation Core HX Series will be released soon, with a layout for mobile workstations and gaming PCs

Since the release of the 12th generation Core series processors, the market feedback is good. However, compared with the highest 8P+8E/24 thread specifications on the desktop side, the combination of only 6P+8E/20 threads on the mobile side obviously has room for growth. Recently, there is news that Intel will soon release the 12th generation Core HX series mobile processor, with a maximum of 8P+8E/24 threads, 5.0GHz frequency and 55W power consumption. The gap between the HX series and the Xeon W series is further narrowed, and it is expected that they will jointly support the high-performance workstation market, forming different offshoots with differentiated features (ECC and PCI-E expansion capabilities), rather than high-low-range combinations.

Recently, game notebooks under brands such as Gigabyte, Asus, and HP have exposed information that they must be equipped with 12-generation Core i9-12900HX processors. However, for the mobile workstation market outside of high-performance gaming notebooks, it is also Intel's "favorite" area. From the information that Dell Precision 7770/7670 mobile workstations that broke the news a few days ago, the information that will be equipped with HX series processors, and the "absence" of the 7 series of Precision product lines at the Dell commercial intelligent terminal conference last Friday, it can be proved that the 12th generation of Core HX series processors is about to be released.

According to Dell's exposed Precision 7770/7670 Mobile Workstation Configuration Sheet, the 12th Generation Core HX Series processors include:

i5-12600HX (vPro): 12 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.6GHz

i7-12800HX: 16 cores, 24 threads, up to 4.8GHz

i7-12850HX (vPro): 16 cores, 24 threads, up to 4.8GHz

i9-12900HX: 16 cores, 24 threads, up to 5GHz

i9-12950HX (vPro): 16 cores, 24 threads, up to 5GHz

Compared with the 12th generation Core H series with up to 6P+8E cores/20 threads, 5.0GHz frequency, and basic power consumption of 45W, the HX series has improved in terms of core number, and it is believed that other parameters will be optimized accordingly.

Previously, a Lenovo notebook equipped with i9-12900HX was announced in the Geekbench database: a single-core score of 1921 points, a multi-core score of 15974 points; compared with the i9-12900HK, it was roughly a single-core increase of 1%, and the multi-core increase was 10%.

On May 10, Intel will hold the Intel On Technology Summit, which will be the best time for the HX series to debut.

Recently frequently exposed HP, Asus, MSI and other brand game models, the "scheduled" exposure time is also this day, supporting this speculation. Let's wait and see!
