From entering the Shanghai Opera School to study Kunqu in 1986 to now serving as the head of the Shanghai Xiqu Art Center, she has experienced both the difficult development period of Kunqu and the growth of Kunqu in the new era. From 36 years of art, she is not afraid of challenges and dares to take responsibility, and she practices the original intention and mission of Kunqu people with practical actions.
The role is changeable, and the original intention does not change
In 1986, Gu Haohao went from Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, to shanghai opera school, and in the sixth year of studying opera, he transferred from Boumen Dan to Dao Ma Dan. In the first six years, Gu was well in Boudoir Dan, "Peony Pavilion" is an enlightenment play, and Du Liniang is the most frequently accompanied role. As she learned, she found that she loved the sword and sword more than the dancing water sleeves, and she preferred to dream heroically on the stage.
After practicing hard to pluck the plume, Gu Hao resolutely found the "Empress Wudan" Wang Zhiquan and introduced himself: "I heard that you want to find a student who can pluck the plume, I will." Her sincerity and simplicity touched Wang Zhiquan, and in 1992, she was finally loaned to Wudan to study drama, and the fate of art changed.
After graduation, Gu Haohao and the students of the "Kunsan Class" entered the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe and learned the principles of singing under the influence and influence of the older generation of artists. Day after day, she soaked in the practice room, wiping away her sweat and tears again and again, practicing desperately.
On May 20, 2001, she held a solo performance at the Tian toad Yifu Stage, which was the first of the "Kunsan Class". A series of good plays such as "Hujiazhuang", "Water Bucket", "Gatekeeper Killing" and so on, Gu Haohao, who is proficient in "singing and doing overturning" doors, has left an impression in the hearts of fans, and more people have begun to pay attention to the growth of a new generation of Kunqu people.
It was also on this day that the news that Kunqu opera was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was officially announced in Shanghai. In 2007, Gu Haohao won the Chinese Drama Award Plum Blossom Performance Award for "A Piece of Peach Blossom" and "Hujiazhuang", winning the first "plum blossom" in 30 years in the Shanghai Kun opera industry; in 2010, she won the Shanghai Magnolia Drama Performing Arts Protagonist Award for her Kun opera "Five Sons Dengke - Gu Haohao"; in 2013, she became the third Shanghai opera singer to win the Wenhua Performance Award, the Chinese Culture and Art Government Award, after Shang Changrong and Cai Zhengren, two old artists.
In the same year that she won the Wenhua Performance Award, she officially took over the burden of the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe and took up a management position. In 2016, Gu Haohao was appointed as the head of the Shanghai Xiqu Arts Center. In 2021, he served as the vice chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Federation of Literature and Literature and the chairman of the Shanghai Drama Association. From actors to managers, different identities mean shouldering different missions and tasks, and also means carrying higher expectations from the audience and the industry.

The key to the prosperity and development of the opera industry lies in people. For 13 consecutive years, Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe has carried out summer training for young actors, and the theme of each year is "advocating virtue and art". Through systematic and scientific training methods, we will concentrate on business training in the summer to comprehensively improve the comprehensive quality of young artistic talents in the academy. Through the "Kunqu Academy" platform, famous lectures, art style and moral education and other multiple combinations, to cultivate the successor of virtue and art.
In Gu Haohao's view, an opera actor must win the respect of society with profound cultural accomplishment, noble personality charm, and literary quality and beauty works, in order to become a practitioner of advanced culture, a leader of social customs, and contribute to the sustained and healthy development of Kunqu.
In order to cultivate a young audience, Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe has been deeply cultivating the campus for 24 years. In 1998, the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe launched the "Kunqu Opera to Youth", which performs Kunqu opera for schools every year. At the same time, for different ages such as high, middle, primary and young, they spread the seeds of traditional culture with various forms such as guided tours, experiences, lectures, live performances, teaching materials, and picture books. In May 2021, under the guidance of the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe, 28 non-opera majors from 13 colleges and universities across the country performed for the first time in china's first student-version drama "Changsheng Temple", which is another fruitful fruit of Kunqu opera entering the campus.

Gu Haohao was interviewed on the sidelines of community volunteer work. In order to allow the majority of opera fans to live at home and enjoy the addiction of drama and alleviate anxiety, under the guidance of the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, the Shanghai Xiqu Art Center has gathered its affiliated theaters and theaters to jointly carry out the series of activities of "Art Rising forward", sending spiritual food to the public in the form of diversified online performances and cloud opera popularization, and exerting the healing power of opera.
