Shanghai Xiqu Art Center was established on December 30, 2011, and the scene on the day of the establishment of the center is still fresh in my memory, and it is another decade in the blink of an eye.

As a dramatist, although I have retired for many years, my expectations and dependence on the center have become clearer and more rooted in my heart with the passage of time. With the continuous deepening of the reform of the shanghai state-owned literary and art academy group system, the establishment of the Shanghai Xiqu Art Center has also become a major change in the system of Shanghai's opera circle in recent years, and Shanghai's Beijing, Kunming, Shanghai, Vietnam, Huaihuai, Pingtan and other state-owned theaters and troupes have officially become one. In the past ten years, the center has fully invested in the protection, inheritance, development and popularization of the excellent traditional arts of the Chinese nation, and led the six theater groups to achieve remarkable results in the construction of repertoire and talent training.

At present, Shanghai Xiqu Art Center has a total of 55 representative inheritors of national intangible cultural heritage projects, 35 people have won the Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award and the Chinese Quyi Peony Award 39 times, 40 people have won the Wenhua Award of the Ministry of Culture for 43 times, etc.; more than ten original plays have won the Five One Project Award, the National Stage Art Fine Engineering Repertoire, the Wenhua Award, etc. Over the years, adhering to the artistic concept of "Shouzheng Innovation", the center has launched classic plays such as Peking Opera "Silang Visiting Mother", Kun opera "Linchuan Four Dreams", Shanghai opera "Thunderstorm", Yue opera "Dream of the Red Chamber", Huai opera "Three Girls Grabbing the Board", and Pingtan "Nunnery Recognizing Mother"; grasping the major time nodes such as the centenary of the founding of the Party and the comprehensive well-off, the center has launched Peking opera "Red Agent", Kun opera "Own Descendants", Shanghai opera "Chen Yi in Shanghai", Yue opera "Mountains and Seas Love", Huai opera "Han Mei", pingtan "War Without Gun Smoke" and other works. Carry forward China's excellent traditional culture and patriotic national spirit.

After the establishment of the center, a series of brand projects such as "Small Theater Opera Festival", "Performing Arts World, Oriental Rhyme", "'Deep Life, Rooted in the People' Theme Practice Activities" were launched, including the "Drama Gathering" publication produced by the center, all of which have done a good job. In particular, the small theater opera festival, different from the inheritance of traditional drama or the creation of big drama, the small theater opera festival always adheres to the concept of "exhaling" opera on the basis of "sucking" the essence of tradition, and the creative themes cover different attempts such as traditional adaptations, foreign classic adaptations, original works, etc. This platform also gives young creators and stars a good practice platform. From the first Shanghai Small Theater Opera Festival in 2015 to the 2021 China Small Theater Opera Exhibition, it has received 60 dramas and 327 declared plays from all over the country, attracting a large number of young operas and young audiences. At the scene of the Sino-French bilateral activities of the second China International Import Expo, the Kunqu opera "Chair", which was highly affirmed by the two heads of state, came out of this platform.

Nowadays, the "Little Theater Opera Festival" has been upgraded to "China Small Theater Opera Exhibition", which will better help the opera art to develop its own body, boldly innovate, and care for and achieve the growth of young opera talents.

Shaohua hurried, and time flies. Ten years of hard work, building dreams with one heart. Shanghai Xiqu Art Center has gone through arduous "entrepreneurship", the courage to innovate and make breakthroughs, and ushered in a decade of harvest. All this is inseparable from the forward-looking strategy of the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, and these achievements are also inseparable from the pattern and position of the central leadership, as well as the concerted efforts of the six courtyards and regiments under it.
