Following the EQS and EQE series, Mercedes-Benz once again brought three series of EQS SUVs built on an all-electric platform. Based on EQS wheelbase settings, the new car offers a wide 7-seater interior and is equipped with a 4Matic 4WD system and Off Road driving mode for light off-road capability.
The new car offers two power options, the single-motor rear-drive version of the EQS 450+ and the dual-motor four-wheel drive version of the EQS 4Matic, the EQS 580 4Matic, with a maximum horsepower output of 360 and 543 horses respectively, and a 12-group lithium battery module with a capacity of 107.8 kWh, with a pure electric endurance of up to 600 km or more.

The EQS SUV is 5,125mm in size ×1,959×1,718mm, which is 82mm shorter and 3mm wider than the GLS, and has a 105mm reduction in height, while the same 3,210mm wheelbase setting as the EQS is 75mm longer than the GLS. The exterior part continues the design of EQS and EQE, and the EQS SUV uses a water tank-like shield at the front of the car, with a polygonal LED headlight set and a light bar that runs across the front of the car, showing the rich colors of the Mercedes-EQ family. On the side, the EQS SUV features window-framed doors and flat door handles. Like the EQS and EQE, the so-called "hood" of the EQS SUV is only designed to be opened during repairs.
The car room space has been presented in the previous original trailer content, especially a very large number of inches, from the driving instrument, coherent to the central control screen, and even the co-pilot's exclusive screen, etc., high-end models will use the Hyperscreen system with curved three-screen design, forming an OLED curved screen through Gorilla Glass glass, making the MBUX vehicle system more powerful and convenient, and built-in 8 core processors and 24GB of memory, the computing speed will be fast. The basic MBUX screen size includes a 12.3-inch digital meter and a 12.8-inch center console touch screen, while hyperscreen's center screen has been increased to 17.7 inches and a 12.3-inch passenger seat touch screen, with an overall size of 56 inches.
However, from the factory photos, the EQS SUV pays more attention to space and comfort than the sedan, in addition to providing up to 7 seats of space configuration options, including the front seat, the second row of two seats on both sides, but also provides a fairly soft suede headrest cushion. The rest of the roof, which includes panoramic glass, is divided into front and rear groups and can be switched by means of a folio sunshade, while the central armrest of the rear seat contains an 11.6-inch MBUX rear seat touch panel for media entertainment, seat adjustment and other details in the rear seat, and the dual rear seats can also be equipped with audio-visual entertainment touch screens.
The EQS SUV is equipped with a wide range of technologies, and it is natural to be fully loaded in a comfortable and convenient device. MBUX also has a learning function, which can learn the driver's habits (such as calling at a fixed time), and remind and move before the action.
In the chassis system section, the EQS SUV is equipped with a four-link and rear multi-link independent suspension system in the front, and is equipped with Airmatic pressure suspension as standard, which can change the damping settings during driving. Dynamic Select driving modes offer Eco, Comfort, Sport, Individual and Off Road options. Speeds below 60 km/h can be increased by up to 25mm in height, while Comfort and Sport modes automatically reduce the body by 10 to 15mm at speeds of 110 km/h in exchange for better wind resistance. Off Road mode adjusts the width limit of the anti-slip system to optimize the off-road capability of the EQS SUV.
The EQS SUV's rear axle steering is basically up to 4.5°, but can be extended to 10° with an optional extension, reducing the slewing radius from 5.95 meters to 5.5 meters, reaching the level of a typical medium-sized SUV.
In terms of power system, the EQS SUV is compared to the EQS series, all of which are equipped with 107.8kWh lithium battery packs (actually available), the EQS 450+ and EQS 450 4Matic models are set with 1 electric motor on the rear axle and 1 electric motor on the front and rear axles, the power number is also 360 horsepower, the EQS 450+ model has a range of 536 to 660 km under the WLTP test cycle, and the EQS 450 4Matic is 507 to 613 km; EQS The 580 4Matic uses an electric motor on each front and rear axles, and the power data reaches 543 horses, and the original WLTP data is also 507 to 613 kilometers.
The EQS SUV supports up to 200kW of charging power, which allows the EQS's 107.8kWh lithium battery pack to charge from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes at the fastest, while a 15-minute fast charge provides up to 250 km of range (EQS 450+).
Unlike the EQS sedan, which is manufactured in Germany, the EQS SUV will be produced at the Tuscaloosa plant in Alabama and will be launched in the US and European markets by the end of 2022.
