The establishment of an International Day of Monuments and Sites was first proposed at the Executive Board meeting in Hammamet on 18 April 1982 at a scientific symposium held in Tunis by the International Council on Monuments and Sites, which was adopted after discussion by the Executive Committee and approved by the 22nd General Conference of UNESCO in November of the following year, in which the General Assembly called on Member States to advocate and promote the International Day of Monuments and Sites on April 18. China joined the organization in 1993 and established the China Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites, the China Association for the Protection of Monuments and Sites.

In 2022, the International Council on Monuments and Sites will make "Heritage and Climate" the theme of the 4.18 International Day of Monuments and Sites, with a view to further promoting the thinking and connection between climate change and heritage protection, and improving heritage protection under climate change.

The main remains of the Twelve Bridges site are large palace-style wooden structures and small dry-column structure complexes of the Shang Dynasty, and there are bronzes, pottery, stone tools, bone tools, bujia and other cultural relics unearthed. Cultural relics such as Xinyi Village and Fangchi Street in Qingyang District, which are similar in age and cultural appearance to the twelve bridge sites, are collectively known as the Twelve Bridges culture. The Twelve Bridges culture, represented by the Twelve Bridges site, is another peak in the history of the development of ancient Shu civilization in Sichuan after the Sanxingdui culture.

The Qingyang Palace kiln site is a large-scale and well-preserved Sui and Tang Dynasty kiln site in Sichuan Province so far, and its discovery fills the gap in the distribution of early ancient ceramic sites in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Seven kilns, including the Qin and Han pottery kilns, the Sui Short Dragon Kiln and the Tang Dynasty Mantou Kiln, were found in the kiln site, of which the discovery of the Sui Dynasty Short Dragon Kiln was the first time in the country. Because it is located near the Qingyang Palace, it is called the Qingyang Palace Kiln, and the production age of the kiln farm is concentrated in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, also known as the "Sui and Tang Kiln Site".
