Looking at the market, basically only foreign brands such as Tesla, Ford and Volkswagen have entered the market, and the Japanese cars that occupy 20% of the market share do not have a model on sale based on the pure electric platform, which is a big disappointment for many consumers. It is precisely because of the contrast between the rapid development of the market and the lack of products that GAC Mitsubishi reacted quickly and launched the first new energy cooperation model Atuka on March 23 this year.
As a new pure electric SUV of GAC Mitsubishi, Artuka whether it is a cruising range of 520km or a recharge efficiency that can charge power from 30% to 80% in 40 minutes, makes this car have a strong competitiveness, but in this emerging market, battery safety is more important for consumers.
"Will the battery soaking water be finished?" "Will it explode in the event of a collision?" "Is the car resistant to collisions?" "Problems are like a cloud hanging over the minds of consumers. Giving positive answers to these questions has become an urgent "problem" for the industry to solve. To this end, will GAC-Mitsubishi, which has always emphasized hard-line, bring us the answer? Perhaps, we can get a glimpse of some of the quality inspection process of Atuka by the National Automobile Quality Inspection and Inspection Center (Beijing Shunyi).
As a regular at the Dakar Rally and a winner of multiple championships, Mitsubishi has a unique set of insights into SUVs – first of all, it must look safe and reliable enough to convey a sense of security from the visual effect. In the body rigidity test of the National Automotive Quality Inspection and Inspection Center, Artuco underwent a static pressure test of up to 2.8 tons of extrusion force, which is equivalent to 1.5 times the weight of the vehicle; when the test was carried out to the side door extrusion test, the applied force to the main driving position had reached 5.7 tons, which was 3 times the mass of the vehicle.
The final test results showed that only the roof of Artuco had obvious folds next to the luggage rack, and the rest of the place was as usual; the test showed that the displacement of the entire roof squeeze part was only 20.5mm, which had a very small impact on the occupant's head. During the side inspection, Artuka's window glass was broken, which looked very intimidating, but in fact it was only that. Because the final test results show that the displacement of the squeezed part of Artuco's side is only 215.5mm, not to mention that there is no infringement on the passengers in the car, and even does not affect the passengers' "riding space" at all.
In order to achieve such test results, the vehicle is required to have a very high body rigidity, and there is a high demand for the design process, manufacturing process and materials of the body-in-white. It can be said that Artuco's excellent performance is due to the fact that its in-white body is built to the strictest standards in the industry. According to official figures, even at 2.7 tons of force (about the same as an African forest elephant), it will only bend 1 mm. Stronger body stiffness not only means greater safety, but also further suppresses driving noise and ensures better handling of the vehicle.
If you think that Artuco's hard school is "superficial", then you are dead wrong. As a pure electric model, Artuka will inevitably encounter the two safety issues that consumers are most worried about at present: "Will the battery water be finished?" Will a collision explode? "These problems are not unfounded, the vast territory of China has brought a complex and changeable road environment, taking the rainy city of Ya'an as an example, more than 200 days a year are raining, the average annual precipitation is more than 1800mm, this kind of weather for the battery pack, once the internal water ingress, it will lead to short circuits and leakage of electricity and other situations."
In order to better test Atuka's battery pack, Atuka chose to soak the battery pack directly under the water surface for 30 minutes, and then let it sit for 2 hours after fishing out for observation and testing. The final test results showed that there was no water trace inside Artuka's battery pack, and the measurement insulation resistance was also greater than the specified requirements, which perfectly passed the immersion test!
If the water immersion experiment seems a little too "bland", then Atuka's battery pack rigidity and extrusion resistance test is much more "stimulating". In the experiment, the battery pack needs to be extruded horizontally and vertically, and the extrusion force reaches 10 tons or the deformation amount reaches 30% for 10 minutes, and then 2 hours of observation. However, during the entire experiment, the Atukao battery pack has hardly deformed under the extrusion force of 10 tons, and the only thing affected is the buffer part of the outer edge of the battery pack.
The next 2 hours of observation is even more undisturbed, the entire process of Artuka battery pack did not change, even if the power interface was squeezed by 10 tons of pressure did not affect the safety of the battery pack, it can be said to be very amazing.
In fact, such a result is not surprising, but more reasonable. It should be noted that Artuco's ternary lithium battery pack has passed nearly 100 tests before loading, the number of test items is nearly 4 times that of the national standard, and Atuka is also equipped with a high-precision BMS battery management system, which can keep the battery at the best working temperature, which can provide strong support for its 520km cruising range and the recharge efficiency from 30% to 80% within half an hour.
Today, the times are calling for a response to low-carbon travel and making a contribution to environmental protection. But the era needs low carbon and new energy models, which does not mean that consumer demand is so single. For consumers, safety should always come first.
