In terms of parameters, the Grand Touring Performance accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and has an estimated range of 446 miles (about 717.8 km); the advanced driver assistance system DreamDrive Pro comes standard with most of the hardware needed for fully autonomous driving, including lidar sensors; and Lucid's 900V super fast charging system, as standard. Enables users to use a 350 kW DC fast charge to increase the cruising range by 300 miles in 21 minutes.

The Grand Touring Performance is a higher-performance version of the previously announced Lucid Air Grand Touring, which delivers 819 horsepower. Lucid said Tuesday that shipments of the model have begun, while the new Grand Touring Performance will begin deliveries in the U.S. in June.

Lucid said Tuesday that Grand Touring Performance will not be sold in limited quantities. The model is very close to the Dream Edition, starting at just $10,000 more. Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson said the company began developing the more powerful model after realizing that there was still considerable demand for a top-of-the-line model with four-figure horsepower.

Rawlinson said Lucid was able to quickly develop new models because of its "vertically integrated" model. Lucid develops and produces electric motors and battery packs in-house, unlike most automakers, which rely on third parties to provide parts.

Lucid is still in the early stages of vehicle production. The company said at the end of February that it had produced about 400 vehicles since it went into production in September last year, but there were about 25,000 air models booked.

Currently, Lucid expects vehicle deliveries to be between 12,000 and 14,000 units in 2022, down from the previously expected 20,000 units. This is due to global supply chain issues affecting Air's capacity rampup.
