On April 9, WEILAI Automobile said on its official APP that since March, due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic that affected the whole country, the company's supply chain partners in Jilin, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places have stopped production one after another and have not yet recovered. Affected by this, WEILAI's vehicle production has been suspended.
Due to the above reasons, the delivery of vehicles for a large number of users in the near future has been delayed. Weilai Automobile said that the company will work with supply chain partners to strive to resume production as soon as possible under the premise of meeting the requirements of epidemic prevention, and deliver the vehicles to everyone as soon as possible.
The suspension of vehicle production will make the sales of Weilai Automobile, which is already in a disadvantageous situation, worse. According to public data, NIO has been in a state of relatively low sales since it first lost the title of the new power brand new car delivery champion in July 2021. In the whole year of 2021, WEIO's new car delivery volume was surpassed by Xiaopeng Automobile for the first time. Entering 2022, the sales decline of Weilai Automobile will be more obvious.
In January, Xiaopeng Automobile delivered 12,922 vehicles, Ideal Car delivered 12,268 vehicles, Nezha Automobile delivered 11,009 vehicles, while Weilai Automobile delivered only 9,652 vehicles, ranking fourth.
In February, Ideal, Nezha, Xiaopeng and NIO delivered 8,414, 7,117, 6,225 and 6,131 vehicles respectively, with NIO continuing to rank fourth. Among them, the year-on-year growth of Ideal, Nezha and Xiaopeng Automobile exceeded 200%, while the year-on-year growth of Weilai was only 9.9%.
In March, Xiaopeng Automobile, Nezha Automobile, Ideal Automobile, Zero-run Automobile and NIO Automobile respectively sold 15,416 units, 12,028 vehicles, 11,075 vehicles, 10,010 vehicles and 9,987 vehicles in March, with Weilai Automobile falling to fifth place.
What is more serious for Nio Automobile is that it currently has three cars on sale, ES8, ES6 and EC6, but from the delivery volume in recent months, it is significantly behind the ideal car that only the ideal ONE is on sale, which means that Weilai Automobile has not yet had a real blockbuster model.
It is expected that with the suspension of production of this vehicle, Weilai Automobile will face a more severe test in the next step.
