On March 30, FAW Toyota's flagship TNGA sedan, the new Asia Dragon, was officially launched. The new car offers three powertrains for a total of nine models, priced from CNY 199,800 to CNY 279,800. Because it is a redesigned model, the appearance has not changed significantly, mainly for the front face to be fine-tuned, and the car is equipped with a larger size central control screen.
As Toyota's flagship sedan on the TNGA architecture in the Chinese market, the Asian Dragon's exaggerated large-mouth grille is its signature feature. The grille of the new model provides both honeycomb and banner array designs, the interior details of the headlights group have been adjusted, and the daytime running lights have been placed in the lower edge position, which greatly improves the recognition after lighting.
The body side shape is smooth, the segmented waist line and the flowing side window border design, the visual effect is quite atmospheric. The most obvious change in the rear of the car is the change of exhaust to a hidden layout, and the raised rear surround is matched with through-type taillights with the word AVALON, emphasizing the sense of fashion and sophistication. Unfortunately, after the taillights are lit, the penetration effect cannot be achieved, and the central area only plays a decorative role.
The interior basically maintains the original style, adopts a symmetrical design with a strong three-dimensional sense, and optimizes the central control screen, after the physical buttons on both sides are cancelled, the screen proportion is immediately increased, and the visual effect is more concise. Happily, the new car has also added full LCD instrument + 10-inch HUD head-up display, smart key, wireless charging and other functions, and the digital configuration has finally begun to be popularized in Japanese cars.
In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 2.0L self-priming engine, a 2.5L self-priming engine and a 2.5L hybrid system, of which the maximum power of the 2.0L self-priming engine is 131kW and the peak torque is 210N·m; the maximum power of the 2.5L self-priming engine is 154kW and the peak torque is 250N·m; the maximum power of the engine in the 2.5L hybrid system is 131kW, the peak torque is 221N·m, the total power of the electric motor is 88kW, and the total torque is 202N·m.
