Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory, which is mainly responsible for the production of Model 3 and Model Y, will be officially opened in 2020 and exported to other regions such as Europe and Asia. Tesla's Shanghai plant handed over 56,515 vehicles in February, an average of about 2,018 vehicles a day, more than half of which were exported, according to the Passenger Car Association, while Tesla's total production last year was 936,000, meaning the Shanghai plant provided Tesla with more than half of its capacity.
Due to the epidemic, work was stopped twice in March, and it is roughly estimated that more than 12,000 Teslas will be produced less, and whether there will be a similar situation in the future that will prevent the factory from operating normally, which will impact Tesla's overall production this year.
In addition to Shanghai, Tesla currently has car factories in California and Berlin, Germany, and the Shanghai factory is very important to Tesla because China is one of Tesla's main markets and nearly half of the production volume is ordered for the Chinese local market.
When the outbreak of the epidemic in 2020 affected the plan to resume work in the United States, the Shanghai factory became the core factory for Tesla's global supply of electric vehicles with excellent production capacity costs, providing electric vehicles made in China exported from more than ten advanced countries such as Europe and Australia.
