This is because mothers with blood type O produce blood group antibodies that do not match the fetal blood type antigen. After this blood group antibody enters the fetus through the placenta, it can destroy the red blood cells of the fetus, resulting in the ABO hemolytic reaction of the fetus.
Although most of the clinical manifestations of ABO hemolysis are relatively mild compared to Rh hemolysis, mothers still need to pay attention to it and do a good job of examination during pregnancy.
