Sunwoda Zhang Yao: Charging for 10 minutes and lasting 400 kilometers of super fast charging batteries is mass-produced at the end of the year

On March 27, At the Forum of China Electric Vehicle 100, Zhang Yao, Vice President of Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech.

Citing data, he said China's "double carbon" goal was challenging to achieve, according to statistics and projections from the International Energy Agency. In 2019, the mainland's carbon emissions from transportation and electricity accounted for 9.2% and 53.1% of the national total, respectively, and maintained high growth.

In promoting the decarbonization of passenger cars, Sunwoda has also made some special analysis for this purpose: the penetration rate affecting HEV (plug-in hybrid) has three major aspects: consumers feel that the fuel saving rate of HEV is not significant, and there is a gap with expectations; they feel that HEV batteries are easy to break and maintenance costs are high; HEV models are often more expensive.

There are four major anxieties in the analysis of bev (pure electricity) challenges: mileage anxiety, charging a single electric mileage is not long enough; charging anxiety, need to be as convenient and fast as refueling; value preservation anxiety, safety anxiety, new energy vehicles often lag behind fuel passenger cars in terms of value preservation.

In response to these challenges, Sunwoda proposed corresponding solutions: hybrid and pure electric solutions, left-hand hybrid, right-hand pure electricity, matching the needs of various electrification scenarios, to help achieve the "double carbon" goal in the field of transportation. In this field, Sunwoda adheres to the priority of safety and reliability, and continuously enhances the competitiveness and cost performance of products through material innovation, structural innovation and process innovation according to the needs of application scenarios, and accelerates the process of electrification. In terms of security solutions, it has now withdrawn from the "No Fire Sunwoda Power Battery Solution".

In terms of hybridization, Sunwoda offers three types of product lines and product solutions: 48V Mild Hybrid, HEV and PHEV. 48V products have the characteristics of high cold starting power, long life and high durability; HEV products have high power, long life and high compatibility, modular design features; PHEV adaptation models include pure electric mileage from 50-250 km type.

In the field of pure electric power, four types of solutions are provided for the needs of customers in different scenarios. For the economical, through the use of innovative lithium iron phosphate and lithium iron phosphate enterprises, the highest energy density can reach 180Wh/kg; for the field of operating vehicles, it provides a solution of lithium ternary iron phosphate with a warranty of 800,000 kilometers for 800,000 kilometers; for the demand for high-end personal passenger cars, it has launched two solutions of long endurance and super fast charging, in terms of long endurance, the energy density can reach up to 210Wh/kg, and the recharge can run 1000 kilometers; super fast charging, A charge can also be maintained at about 700 kilometers, and the charging time of 10 minutes can achieve 400 kilometers of endurance, solving the four major anxieties.

In addition to the continuous iteration of the product line, Sunwoda has also established an advanced battery research institute, which is committed to the research and development of electrochemical energy storage forward-looking technologies, including solid-state batteries, lithium metal batteries, sodium-ion batteries, etc., to continue to provide customers with innovative technologies with market competitiveness.

Around the "double carbon" action, Sunwoda attaches great importance to sustainable development, and has set up a working team led by the vice president of the group to continuously reduce the carbon footprint of power and energy storage batteries, and set the group's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, carbon peak in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2040. In the face of continued rapid business growth, Sunwoda Group has committed to emitting less than 8 million tons of CARBON dioxide.

At the same time, establish green intelligent manufacturing to achieve zero emissions in battery manufacturing. The first is to adopt smart grids and self-developed energy storage systems in various manufacturing bases and parks to realize the greening, efficiency and intensification of electricity consumption in the park, and gradually increase the proportion of green electricity use to 90%. Second, in lean planning, digital twin technology is used to reduce the energy consumption per watt hour of the production line and the labor cost per watt hour, which is conducive to reducing the carbon emissions of the manufacturing link; third, in the smart energy management, the adoption of big data and artificial intelligence technology to achieve more efficient energy management.

In view of the current supply chain that has attracted much attention, Zhang Yao also mentioned that Sunwoda has initially completed the layout of the industrial chain. On the one hand, it is conducive to ensuring the safety of the supply chain, and on the other hand, it also realizes the recycling of resources. Through the analysis of the carbon emission composition of battery cells and battery products, it is found that the recycling of metal in the cathode material and the recycling of aluminum and copper in the middle battery of the battery pack are not only very critical to the safety of the supply chain, but also of great significance to the goal of carbon emissions, because many supply links additional processes will cause more carbon emissions, electrolytic aluminum also has carbon emissions in the process, if the recycling of aluminum can effectively reduce carbon emissions.

He pointed out that in addition to low-carbon technology, low-carbon management is also very critical, Sunwoda set up a point chain company, developed blockchain technology, so that Sunwoda and various partners in the industry together to achieve the whole life cycle of the battery carbon footprint traceability, but also including resource recycling, social responsibility, etc., is conducive to the management of carbon emissions, promote the achievement of carbon emissions goals.

According to public data, the installed capacity of Sunwoda power batteries began to start in the second half of 2021, and the single-month installed capacity began to enter the top ten list of the industry. In January this year, the monthly installed capacity rose to eighth in the month, an increase of 409% year-on-year.

Auto companies are trying to support the power battery maker rookie: this year, 19 companies increased their capital by 2.43 billion yuan to their Sunwoda auto batteries, with a total shareholding ratio of about 19.5% after the capital increase, including Weilai, Xiaopeng, Ideal, as well as SAIC, GAC and Dongfeng.
