Sources revealed that BYD has given a lot of preferential treatment in business terms in order to win these star car-making projects.
It is reported that the fixed-point cooperation between Weilai and Fordy Battery has been finalized before the Spring Festival, and will use BYD lithium iron phosphate blade batteries. In the second half of last year, a number of Weilai battery people frequently visited BYD's Shenzhen Pingshan headquarters. Earlier, social media circulated photos of WEILAI CEO Li Bin accompanying BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu to visit WEI's Hefei factory.
At present, Weilai's power battery is supplied by the Ningde era, but Li Bin, the helmsman of Weilai, has publicly stated that batteries have become a factor restricting production capacity, and seeking more suppliers to increase production capacity guarantee has become a common practice in the industry.
At about the same time as Weilai, Xiaomi Automobile also signed a fixed-point cooperation agreement with Fordy Battery. It is reported that the first car of Xiaomi Automobile has planned two configurations, low-end models use 400V voltage platform, plans to use BYD blade batteries, high-end models use 800V voltage platform, and high-end models use Ningde era products.
