Sha Menghai is a giant of modern and contemporary Chinese books, a famous epigrapher, archaeologist, literary historian and art educator. Especially in the two major fields of calligraphy and printing, he has made extraordinary achievements in both creation and research, and is an iconic figure in the art of Chinese calligraphy and seal engraving in the twentieth century.

Sha Menghai (1900-1992), formerly known as Wen Han, later renamed Wen Ruo, the character MengHai, alias Sangfu, Sha Estate, Lan Sha, Cassia, Shi Huang, after middle age to write lines. Gengzi, the 26th year of the Qing Dynasty, was born on May 15 (June 11, 1900 AD) in Yin county, Zhejiang (present-day Yinzhou District, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province). He is fond of calligraphy and seal engraving. In his early years, he studied at the Zhejiang Provincial Fourth Normal School (Ningbo), learning poetry and ancient chinese characters from Feng Junmu, and learning calligraphy and seal carving from Qian Taixi and Zhao Shuru. After studying in Shanghai in the winter of 1922, he traveled from Wu Changshuo to Visit Kang Youwei, Zheng Xiaoxu, Luo Zhenchang and other celebrities, and at the same time taught himself philology and jinshi. He was a professor of preparatory Chinese literature at Sun Yat-sen University, a professor of the Department of Chinese of Zhejiang University, the director and honorary director of the History Department of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, and the honorary president of Zhejiang Archaeological Society. Since 1963, he has been employed by the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now the China Academy of Art) as a professor of calligraphy and seal engraving, and since 1979, he has served as a postgraduate tutor in calligraphy and seal engraving. In 1979, he was elected president of Xiling Printing Society, and in 1981, he was elected vice chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association. He died in Hangzhou on October 10, 1992.

Sha Menghai calligraphy, good at all kinds of body.
