Interview with calligrapher Liu Wenqing

Liu Wenqing, male, pen name Baizi, born in 1954, a native of Longwan Daowu Village, Xiong County, Hebei Province, Han ethnicity, graduated from high school, teacher. In his early years, he was influenced by his family and loved calligraphy. In 1973, he took Mr. Li Junbiao as his teacher, studied calligraphy, studied hard, and devoted himself to cultivation to become a school of his own. He is currently a member of the Calligraphers Association of Henan County, and has passed the examination to receive the registered teacher qualification certificate of the Calligraphy Examination of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.

His works are fresh and elegant, calm and stable, majestic and atmospheric, and the brushwork is a school of its own. His works have been ranked among the best in calligraphy competitions across the country. In August 2011, his calligraphy works won the silver medal in the first Huangheyuan Calligraphy Competition in Xining, Qinghai, the special prize in the National Calligraphy seal engraving competition in 2013, and the silver medal in the "Chinese Dream" in the Xining Calligraphy Competition in 2014. The work is collected by the United Front Work Department of Qinghai Province. In 2015, he won the Excellence Award in the Damei Qinghai Calligraphy Competition to Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
