On March 18th, the National Arts Fund's exhibition and academic seminar "The Art of Traditional Chinese Cross Flower Picking" was held at the T Contemporary Art Center (Houhu) in Changsha. The exhibition displays more than 200 traditional cross-picking embroidery works from all over China, and displays the existing regional characteristics of China's flower picking embroidery pieces, such as Huangmei picking flowers, Longhui Huayao picking flowers, Wangjiang picking flowers, Pupu Huayao picking flowers, Luojing cross picking flowers, Xinghua Green Cloth picking flowers, etc.
The exhibition takes traditional crafts and fashion as the theme, while displaying precious cultural heritage, with the traditional flower picking vision and story as the source of inspiration, to young stage artists and young designers to initiate a collection of creative modeling, lasted one and a half years, a total of nearly 100 pieces of fashion creative shapes from various stage art fields, one hundred years of traditional embroidered turbans or skirts, by contemporary designers in the shape of a rich imagination, installed on the model rack, into a contemporary fashion soft sculpture.
It is worth mentioning that the twelve five-meter-long banner scrolls hanging in the exhibition hall for the first time display the inheritance of various cross-flower picking genres in the country, showing the combination of traditional Chinese cross-picking flowers + installation art, cross flower picking + landscape art, cross picking flowers + decorative art, cross picking flowers + composition art, cross picking flowers + collage art, cross picking flowers + graffiti art, cross picking flowers + painting art, metal installation art, cross picking flowers + sculpture and physical installation art, cross picking flowers +, cross picking flowers + Fashion art, cross flower picking + body decoration art, cross flower picking + food modeling art, cross flower picking + new media image interactive art.
Yang Qingqing, curator, host of the National Arts Fund project, director of the Visual Communication Committee of the Shanghai Stage Art Society and professor of the Shanghai Theater Academy, said, "We enjoy the great visual wealth of our predecessors and have the responsibility to pass on these incomparable craft beauty and make it enter the fashionable and active contemporary aesthetic." Yang Qingqing said that through the way of art to protect and activate the beautiful traditional culture of China, so that these cultural treasures that have accumulated for thousands of years, in the form of contemporary art to open new flowers, a long way to go. Wang Fei, co-curator and young artist, believes that this exhibition allows young designers to get close to traditional Chinese culture, and it is meaningful for young creatives to naturally return and trigger folk contemporary creativity from the creation of folk for a long time.
According to Wang Fei, the exhibition supported by the National Arts Fund is not only based on displaying a large number of intangible cultural heritage works of "cross-picking embroidery with different regional characteristics of China", but also hoping to stimulate the love of young people for the shape, color and quality of cross-picking flowers with close physical display, triggering relevant applied research, triggering contemporary transformation of creative design, triggering traditional and new media display and communication methods, etc., hoping to stir up people's attention and high recognition in the field of international fashion art and lifestyle. Thus preserving and passing on these beautiful and excellent artistic treasures in the development.
This art exhibition shows things and nature, expresses people and feelings, spreads the beauty of stories, has collection value, appreciation value and practical value, the exhibition and discussion emphasize that China's traditional arts and crafts should be "developed in inheritance, inherited in development", to practice the real sense of "innovation", is the first exhibition involving the transformation of traditional crosses and flowers and contemporary art. The exhibition runs until March 24.
