The BMW Group announced that cumulative sales of electric vehicles will increase to 2 million by 2025 and one-half of electric vehicle sales by 2030. In the case of MINI, it will move to an all-electric brand starting in 2030.

BMW Group held its 2022 annual press conference at its headquarters in Munich, Germany, on the 16th local time, and released its 2021 performance and future corporate strategy.

In today's announcement, the BMW Group plans to produce 15 pure electric vehicles this year. The new 7 Series, which will be launched in April, has also ushered in an important turning point with the addition of the i7.

The MINI brand will be reborn from the early 2030s as a brand that is completely electric. To this end, some information about the new MINI family will be revealed in the second half of this year. BMW also revealed some information about the 7th generation of the new 7 Series. Launched in April, the new 7 Series will be reborn as the first luxury electric sedan in the BMW lineup via the i7, offering both internal combustion engines and plug-in hybrid models. The i7's range is aimed at a maximum of 600 km (based on WLTP). The company stressed that new diesel locomotives have also been developed to further help reduce emissions and improve air quality.

Design features include the BMW Crystal Headlight "Iconic Glow" made of luxurious crystal glass and lightweight materials, a double kidney grille with contour illumination, a BMW cinema screen that descends from the interior roof lining, and the newly developed Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof.

The BMW Group also plans to accelerate the development of hydrogen fuel cell technology. It is expected that the new "new class" will also be equipped with an electric drivetrain based on hydrogen fuel cells. The company plans to achieve various results this year with the BMW iX5 Hydrogen.

It also promotes innovation in the production sector. Through the next-generation vehicle production method "BMW iFACTORY", the company has put forward a strategic vision for the production of "lean, green and digital" BMW cars. The BMW iFactory aims to transform the global production network into an electric vehicle and will be implemented at all BMW plants worldwide.

At the same time, the BMW Group sold 2,521,514 units (an increase of 8.4% over the previous year) and sales of 111,239 million euros as of FY21. Electric vehicle sales were 328,314 units (70.4%), accounting for 13% of total sales.
