The HUD and the gauge are the same and different

The HUD can generally display digital speed, music, navigation information, and the speed information is weakened on the HUD. At the same time, compared with the liquid crystal instrument, huD generally takes white as the main color, and the color and UI presentation will be weaker.
HUD variety and price
The current HUD can be roughly divided into three types, C-HUD, W-HUD, AR-HUD.
C-HUD refers to the combined head-up display system, is an independent mirror optical design, in simple terms, that is, between the instrument panel and the front block, an independent transparent panel will be erected, and the information is presented through this panel, this HUD display information is relatively single, and the effect is more general;
W-HUD refers to the windshield head-up display system, is currently the most widely used HUD, in simple terms, this HUD directly projects information onto the front windshield, more integrated with the vehicle, stronger integration, while the display effect is clearer;
AR-HUD refers to the augmented reality technology head-up display system, AR-HUD is based on W-HUD, adding AR functions, such as simulating lane guidance in the display information, in the lane change and turn, can better reduce the risk of taking the wrong road.
Then talk about the price of the three kinds of HUD, the price of C-HUD is lower, the front and back mounts are available, and the price of the general rear mounts ranges from a few hundred to a thousand yuan; the price of W-HUD, the HUD of luxury brand models generally ranges from 6000-20000.
Security of the HUD
Due to the imaging position of the HUD, huD is like its name head-up display, head-up display, without looking down to be able to present the basic important information in front of the eyes, it is not necessary to look down, always maintain a heads-up view, so the HUD is also more secure than the general need to look down at the instrument.
As for the situation that many people are worried about whether the HUD as an electronic product will fail, in fact, many models are also equipped with LIQUID crystal meters, which can also be seen as electronic products, and mechanical instruments are also fly-by-wire data, so from a stability point of view, I think there is not much difference between the three, and it will not be because the HUD looks more technological, it is more likely to go wrong.
HUDs will not replace dashboards
As we all know, the CURRENT HUD on the mainstream model, generally as a supplementary configuration of the dashboard appears, like the ideal L9 such as no instrument, only through the HUD to present the main information of the model is very few, of course, there is a more cost-effective Tesla, even the dashboard and HUD are not, can only obtain information through the central control.
So whether hud will replace the dashboard, I think it still depends on the huD cost and presentation effect. For some models with W-HUD or AR-HUD, they are relatively easier to complete the transformation of omitting the dashboard, because this part of the model itself provides both the dashboard and the HUD, if the HUD information is rich and direct enough, then in the future, the car company from the perspective of cost savings and improved safety, you can consider omitting the dashboard.
