At present, Mercedes-Benz has started construction of a battery recycling plant in Germany, which is scheduled to be put into operation in 2023. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz plans to work with high-tech partners in China and the United States to realize recycling and recycling.
Mercedes-Benz considers the problems related to the life cycle of lithium-ion batteries in Mercedes-EQ series models, so it is clear that it will maximize recycling to save resources. It is reported that the recovery rate of the new battery recycling plant is as high as 96%.
The new plant is expected to have an annual recycling capacity of 2,500 tons, recycle materials including nickel, cobalt, lithium and graphite, and recycle more than 50,000 battery modules for Mercedes-EQ series models.
