IT House Reported March 13 that during the Coin Concede podcast, Hearthstone game director Ben Lee announced that he would leave the team for a different, never-announced project inside Blizzard.
Lee has been the game director for Hearthstone since late 2018, during which time he introduced Hearthstone's Reward Route system, as well as a new class, Demon Hunter. He leads the team with a more regular balance update rate and a quick response to player feedback.
Many in the Hearthstone community believe Lee joined the same unannounced project as Hearthstone veterans Mike Donais and Peter Whalen. Given the intellectual abilities of these developers, it's reasonable to assume that this upcoming game will offer a hybrid CCG-RPG gameplay similar to Hearthstone, and even content creator RegisChillbin speculates that the new game will resemble Killing Spire, a Roguelike card game.
IT House understands that Blizzard has previously announced a new survival game, and the name, release platform and release date of the game have not been announced, but it has been preparing for at least four and a half years.
