The area involved includes Tokyo and 14 prefectures.
Shikishima Bread Company said it received a complaint from a consumer on May 5 that the bread was mixed with foreign substances. On the 7th, the company received a similar complaint in the same area. Investigation confirmed that the two bags of bread had indeed been mixed with the remains of the rats.
At present, the production line of the Tama plant in Tokyo has been suspended, and an investigation into the cause of the contamination has been launched. At present, there have been no reports of health damage caused by the consumption of related products.
