The raider is a particularly loyal slave, but she is not foolish, she has her own principles and bottom lines.
"Pure heart, conscientious duties", this is Jia Mu's evaluation of the attacker, and it is precisely because the raider has these two major advantages that Jia Mu sent her to Bao Yu's side to take care of Bao Yu's diet and living.
The raiders also lived up to Jia Mu's trust and did their best to take care of Bao Yu, but because "Bao Yu had a perverse temperament, (raiding people) always gave advice, Bao Yu did not listen, and his heart was really melancholy."
In the face of Baoyu's "obedient temperament", why should the attackers "always advise"? This is precisely because the attackers are "pure in heart" and do not want Baoyu to "commit adultery and criminality" and do something illegal and disorderly.
Judging from Jia Mu's love for Baoyu, she did not expect the attacker to "advise" Baoyu, she looked at the attacker's "pure heart and conscientious duties", based on two considerations:
First, because of the "pure heart", it will not rely on power to make waves, so as to bring Baoyu a quiet and stable living environment;
Second, because of "due diligence", he will do his best to take good care of Baoyu, so that Baoyu can rest assured, and Jia Mu can also be assured.
However, out of the "pure conscience" of nature, in addition to completing Jia Mu's entrustment, he also hopes that Bao Yu will also be a person with a "pure heart". You can be naughty, you can be naughty, you can also "make a look that like you like to read, and teach the old man to be less angry", but you can't make it bad, let alone "commit adultery" and violate the law and discipline.
However, after all, the raider is only a slave, Baoyu is her master, she can't use a tough way to stop Baoyu from becoming bad, she can only often "advise", and is to use every opportunity to do everything possible to "advise".
If the "rules" really did not work, Baoyu still had to go down the crooked road, then she could only withdraw and leave, in order to show that she was not willing to go along with the "adulterous criminals".
So, for the thirty-sixth time, the raider and Baoyu had this conversation:
Bao Yu smiled and said, "Even if I am not good, you went back to your wife and asked others to hear that I am not good, you go, you are not interesting." The attacker laughed and said, "What's not to like, if you are a robber, I will follow." Otherwise, there is another death. People live a hundred years old, horizontal and vertical to die, this breath is not there, can not hear or see it? ”
This dialogue needs to be understood in conjunction with the nineteenth "Explanation of the Love and The Good Night Flower".
The nineteenth time, the attacker's "mother and brother want to redeem her back", Bao Yu was very sad after he knew. The raider saw his reluctance, so he took this as an opportunity to say to Baoyu in the third chapter of the Law, "You really cling to me, that is, you really left me, the knife rests on my neck, and I will not go out."
Bao Yu immediately agreed, but he was originally a duplicitous person, and in order to retain the attacker, he had to restrain himself in front of the attacker.
On the thirty-sixth time, Madame Wang raised the attacker as an aunt, and Bao Yu felt that he had eaten a reassuring pill now, and he didn't have to worry about the attackers leaving, "From now on, I can see who dares to call you."
Unexpectedly, the attacker was still very resolute, "From now on, I am the wife's person, I want to leave, even you don't have to tell, just return to the wife and leave."
Then Bao Yu began to play with Lai, "Even if I am not good, you went back to your wife and asked others to hear that I am not good, you go, you are not interesting." This kind of trick is to use the feelings of the attacker for her, and we may as well use the modern language style to translate it."
Baoyu knew that the raiders had deep feelings for him, like family. So he said: If I do something bad and become a bad person, even if you leave and are no longer with me, you will not feel good when you hear others say bad things about me.
Bao Yu is right in saying this, and each of us should have a deep understanding. If our family members do bad things and become bad people, when everyone is talking, of course we will feel bad.
Unexpectedly, the attacker didn't eat Baoyu at all, "What's not interesting, did you do a robber, I also followed." Otherwise, there is another death. People live a hundred years old, horizontal and vertical to die, this breath is not there, can not hear or see it? ”
In the hearts of attackers, there is a particularly clear boundary: if you are a good person, I will be a family with you. If you're going to be a robber and a thief, I'm sorry, we're no longer a family, I'll draw a line with you, raise your legs and go. If I really can't go, and your family uses power to oppress me and doesn't let me go, then I can still die. People always have to die, rather than follow you to be a robber, it is better to die early, in short, they are not willing to live against their conscience.
The attack was said very harshly: You are a good person, we will be a long time, if you want to be a bad person, then I would rather die than be with you.
Every time I read this, I solemnly respect the attacker, which is like the words spoken by a squirrel, which is clearly the tone of a benevolent person with great righteousness in his heart.
It can be seen from this that although he is only a slave and has a loyalty to his master who is "conscientious of duty", he is not foolish and loyal to the attacker, and he will not obey only the master. She has her own principles and bottom lines, and always adheres to this principle and bottom line, and does not change due to changes in status.
The "sages" who attack people are not only virtuous, but also virtuous.
"Xian" is the author's definite evaluation of the attacker, and it is written in the twenty-first time as the name of the review, "The sage attacks the person and the zhen zhen bao yu".
In Confucian culture, "sage" is a very high evaluation, second only to "sage", and "sage" is often used to describe people with high moral character and extraordinary intelligence. Unfortunately, the word "xian" placed on women was understood by posterity as a pejorative meaning, believing that it was a symbol of feudal female morality. This is not only a misunderstanding of the attacker, but also a misunderstanding of the author, Mr. Cao Xueqin. The author uses "sage" to evaluate the attacker, referring to the fact that the attacker is not only virtuous, but also virtuous, a person who does not read but is reasonable.

Bao Yu didn't care about this, and got up early in the morning and ran to Dai Yu's room. This is equivalent to the modern middle school students, boys just got up without washing up to run to the girls' dormitory, and directly into the room, but also went to the bed to cover the girls with quilts. Note that at this time, the two girls sleeping on the bed have not yet woken up, and one of them is "only chest-high, a bent snow-white arm on the outside of the quilt." I would like to ask, even in modern times, what girl would like her sleep to be spied on by a boy like this?
Not only that, Baoyu was lying in the girls' dormitory this morning, not only asking Xiangyun to brush his hair, but also washing his face with the face wash water that Xiangyun used.
So, the attackers got angry.
Some people say that the attacker is angry because she is jealous, which is really looking at her as a careful-eyed Daiyu. The reason why the attackers are angry is only because Baoyu is too unbounded, "The sisters are kind, and there is also a measured etiquette, and there is no black family who makes trouble in the daytime!" ”
Remember the nineteenth time when the three chapters of the Covenant between Man and Baoyu were attacked, one of them was "No more eating the rouge wiped on people's mouths." Boys and girls can have no boundaries when they are young, but when they are older, they can't, even if they are brothers and sisters, not to mention that Baoyu and Daiyu Xiangyun are only cousins.
Therefore, the attack was angry because Bao Yu had promised her the three chapters of the Covenant, and now she not only forgot it, but also intensified it, making more and more excessive trouble.
This is the sage who attacked people, although she did not read books, she was reasonable, so Baochao thought that she "had some insights" and "her words were deeply respectable and loved".
Of course, Baoyu's "eating the rouge wiped on people's mouths" and sneaking into the girls' dormitory to watch the girls sleep did not have crooked intentions, and the attackers also knew that he was not trying to make it bad. However, the attacker still had to stop him, because she was far-sighted and able to see hidden dangers. The hidden danger that this attacker worried about was in the thirty-fourth time she said to Madame Wang: "Most of the things in the world that have no mind are done unintentionally, are seen by people with hearts, and regarded as things with hearts, but they are said to be bad." Just don't guard it in advance, it's definitely not good. ”
People who know Baoyu know that these actions are "unintentionally committed", but how many "people with hearts" will see his behaviors that do not avoid suspicion? These people saw it and "regarded it as a matter of intention", so they "said it was bad", just as Leng Zixing said a few years ago that Baoyu "will undoubtedly be a ghost in the future".
Baoyu may not care what outsiders say about him, but if he truly loves these sisters, he should consider their reputation. He went early in the morning to cover Daiyu Xiangyun with a quilt and freshen up with them, if such a thing was "seen by people with hearts" and "treated as a matter with hearts" passed out, could Daiyu Xiangyun still be a good person?
This is the clear point of the attack, as Baoyu's personal servant, she must not only consider Baoyu's reputation, but also consider the girls around her, which is the embodiment of her "pure heart". Her "pure goodness" is not only for her master, but also for everyone she can meet. She hoped that everyone would be able to be well protected from being hurt, and of course she did not want Baoyu to hurt others.
This is the reason why Baochao feels that the attack is "verbal and deeply respectable".
It is precisely because the attackers are both virtuous and wise that she will adhere to the principle and bottom line of being a good person and not a bad person, and resolutely not collude with the "robbers and thieves". No matter how deep her feelings for Baoyu are, if Baoyu does not listen to the "rules" and must become a "robber", then she will not hesitate to withdraw and leave, and the glory and wealth will not be wanted. So she said, "Did I become a robber and I followed?" ”
This is the "sage" who attacked people, and it is also the author's high praise for her, although she does not read books, she understands the great righteousness, and can be regarded as a sage.
