Today is International Women's Day on March 8, and Xbox officially invites female game designers, engineers, audio/sound experts and producers to share their knowledge and experience with young women and encourage women to pursue careers in the gaming industry.
Xbox officials say that although 45% of players consider themselves women according to ESA data, female characters are underrepresented in the game. In addition, only 30% of video game developers worldwide consider themselves women. By increasing the diversity and representation of game developers, Xbox can create new and unique gaming experiences for everyone. At Xbox, women make up more than half of the game leadership team and are actively creating the future of the gaming world.
At Microsoft, women currently make up 29.7% of the world's core workforce. The same goes for the team at Rare, where half of the design and production teams are women.
