The Su-25 is an aircraft developed by Sukhoi during the Soviet era to provide close air support to ground forces. The first prototype first flew on February 22, 1975.
Ukrainians said the Su-25 fighter jet was on a bombing mission nearby, and after being shot by Ukrainian missiles, the pilot on board successfully catapulted. After that, a Russian Mi-8 helicopter on a search and rescue mission flew into the airspace where the Su-25 fighter jet crashed to rescue the Su-25 fighter pilot. Unfortunately, the Missiles fired by the Ukrainian Army immediately shot down the Russian Mi-8 rescue helicopter.
The shooting down of two Russian planes in a row was also reported on March 4 by the Ukrainian Independent Press Agency. Anton Grashchenko, adviser to the Minister of Interior of Ukraine, announced that the air defense units of the Ukrainian Joint Forces had shot down a Russian Su-25 over the city of Volnovaka, and then the Ukrainian military shot down a Mi-8 helicopter that rescued the pilot who ejected the pilot. Grashenko also released a photo of a helicopter that was shot down.
Ukraine has often declared significant results in its war against Russia. Earlier, Ukrainian President Zelenskiy had said that more than 9,000 Russian troops had been killed or wounded since the start of the war.
