"Bubble" crossover painter in the painting

"Teacher Pan, we have come to you to learn to draw." "Be well, let's draw loquats today..." In the past few days, Pan Jianhua, a villager in Jin'eshan Village in Kangqian Street, has set up easels and drawing boards at home.

Pan Jianhua, 58, graduated from Xinmeng Primary School in the former Chengguan Town, Deqing County. At the age of 16, he learned to be a painter and has been working as a painter for more than 40 years. From a lacquer artist to a painter, how did Pan Jianhua take this step of transformation?

From peasant painters to students of the Academy of Fine Arts

After passing through a narrow staircase, you will be greeted by a small room of about 10 square meters, which is Pan Jianhua's studio. Do the dojo in the shell of the snail, don't look at the place is small, but it is full of surprises.

The studio is filled with his painting tools and scrolls, which are good companions for him when painting. "This kind of pen is called a hook line pen, which can draw lines thinner than a hair, and this "Autumn Fun" uses it." The painting "Autumn Fun" hanging on the wall is Pan Jianhua's proud work, and he also participated in the "Flower Language and Harmony - National Flower and Bird Painting Invitation Exhibition". "This painting was my first contact with Gongbi painting when I was studying painting at the China Academy of Fine Arts."

In September 2019, 55-year-old Pan Jianhua received an acceptance letter from the China Academy of Fine Arts' Advanced Seminar on Flower and Bird Transformation and Creation. The lacquer artist around him transformed into a student of the China Academy of Fine Arts, which was a big news at the time. "I was the third oldest in the class, and many of the students around me were professional painters, and I was always afraid of being timid." When he first came to the Academy of Fine Arts to study, Pan Jianhua was both excited and nervous, afraid that his foundation was weak and could not keep up.

As soon as he had time, Pan Jianhua would go outside to sketch. Meet strangely shaped stones, trees, or a scenic corner for an afternoon. During his studies at the China Academy of Fine Arts, Pan Jianhua gained a lot: The class teacher, Professor Zhang Donghua, taught him the real kung fu of painting by "opening a small stove"; he made many close friends, discussed painting knowledge with each other, and learned painting skills. Pan Jianhua said that such an experience is like a gift from life to him, and he never thought that he would become good friends with so many painters because of his interest.

Put down the paint bucket and pick up the paintbrush

What is surprising is that Pan Jianhua, who is now exhibiting in various places with his paintings, did not have the experience of systematically learning painting before going to the Academy of Fine Arts.

Pan Jianhua's association with painting began in the early 1980s.

"At that time, old-fashioned wooden beds were popular, and painters would depict lacquer paintings such as "Three Pools printing the moon" and "Liuhe Pagoda" on this kind of railing, as well as eraser paintings of plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum." Pan Jianhua said that the production process of eraser painting is more complicated, you need to paint white on the wooden board first, wait for the white paint to dry, and then use the special treatment of the pigment powder to coat the white paint bottom of the wooden board, and then use the eraser or the tire skin of the car to wipe off the places that do not need color, so as to form a certain pattern.

Such eraser paintings generally take 2 days to complete, which also cultivates Pan Jianhua's patience and care when painting in the future.

With the improvement of economic conditions, such wooden bed has withdrawn from the stage of history, and Pan Jianhua can no longer paint on the board. But he did not give up on this hobby, and turned around and picked up a pen and paper. But because there is no teacher to teach, his level has always been in place. It was at this time that he met his own "BoLe". In 2016, Pan Jianhua met Huang Jianshi, who was teaching at Deqing County University for the Elderly at a wedding banquet. Huang Jianshi said, "I see that he is very talented, so I let him go to the university of the elderly, even if it is as a hobby." Under the recommendation of teacher Huang Jianshi, Pan Jianhua went to the Chinese painting class to learn flower and bird painting as he wished, not only learning different painting methods from the lacquer maker, but also gradually mastering the basic essentials of painting.

Since then, Pan Jianhua's painting path is like inserting a pair of "wings", flying higher and higher, and farther and farther.

At the beginning of July 2019, Pan Jianhua saw the relevant enrollment brochure of the China Academy of Fine Arts in the WeChat circle of friends, and with the mentality of trying it out, he created four paintings in two days and sent them to the designated mailbox, and soon received the "Admission Notice" from the China Academy of Fine Arts. After the professional training of the Academy of Fine Arts, not only has Pan Jianhua's painting level reached a higher level, but also has a certain popularity in the neighborhood.

"Now that I'm getting older, I can't move the paint bucket, and some people specifically ask me to learn to paint, and I want to start a class." In Pan Jianhua's view, the painting skills he learned are a valuable spiritual wealth, which can be used to benefit others.

"When I have time to wait, I am also willing to go to schools and communities to teach, so that more people can fall in love with traditional Chinese painting and make our cultural life more fulfilling!" Pan Jianhua said firmly.
