Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

Spoiler Alert: Includes extensive discussion of pokémon legends: Al Zeus and Pokémon universe settings.

Editor's note: At the time of this article' launch, Pokémon Zhu/Zi had not yet been released.

One of my favorite things about Pokémon Legends: Arzeus is that it differs from other Pokémon mainlines by creating a story-focused work while maintaining the core of the Pokémon series. It digs deeper into the history of the Shin-Ao region (in this game's timeline, the Shin-O region is also referred to as the "Washy Area"), greatly reducing the presence of the most important battle elements in the Pokémon series, and the game's plot complements this feature. I can't help but wonder: if Pokémon Legend can be released as a sequel, where should the main stage be set? With this question in mind, I ranked the likelihood of each region as the place of occurrence based on known Pokémon mythological stories.

7. Guandu area

Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

Those who think the first generation of the main stage is the best, may think that this is the best choice for the next Pokémon Legend, hoping that the next adventure will return to where the story began. But with Pokémon Red & Blue set up, it's really hard to imagine how a game like Pokémon Legends could develop. Unlike the Shin-O region, the Kanto area does not have much mythological story and history associated with legendary Pokémon. The attributes of the Pokémon of Illusion in Pokémon Red and Blue are not the same natural attributes as those of Arzeus, Paruccia, and Diya Luca in Pokémon: Crystal Diamond/Bright Pearl.

The three legendary birds Pokémon Frozen Bird, Flame Bird and Lightning Bird have deep roots in the Johto region, and the story of Super Dream was later extended into a separate story. Many people may have a selfish interest in the original game and Pokémon, but the Kanto area really does not have a deep historical background compared to other regions. It's not because developer Game Freak Studios can't build a story based on unpublished content, but rather that several of the pinnacles of Pokémon Legends: Al Zeus are triggered by relationships between the past and the future, so I also hope that the next Pokémon Legends game will continue to develop based on this very mature setting.

VI. The Galar Region

Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

The reason why the Garar region is not suitable as the main stage for Pokémon Legends style works is that Pokémon Sword and Shield has fully excavated the mythological stories of this area. The history of the Galer region has been almost explained. Thousands of years before the Pokémon Sword and Shield story began, a meteorite landed in the Galar region, and the Pokémon appeared and began to draw energy from the earth. Its arrival led to the creation of the phenomenon of polarization, which was able to make Pokémon incomparably huge. The cover of Sword and Shield pokémon and Zangmarante successfully ended this phenomenon, and Infinity fell into a deep sleep.

Surprisingly, however, Chairman Rose, the leader of the Pokémon Alliance, foolishly wanted to replenish the source of extreme giant energy in the Gallar region, so that the extreme giant appeared again, awakening the infinity, requiring the player (and the player's opponent Hepp) to fight alongside Cang Xiang and Zang Marante to stop the infinity ji na. There's a pretty good story at the end of the game, but it's essentially a repetition of the previous events, and I don't think even if you were to develop a Pokémon Legend game based on the Gallar region, it wouldn't involve too much of that new land. Following the historical setting to unfold the plot is indeed a clever choice, but if you want to add something earlier, the history of the Galar region will not be much different from the known plot.

5. Arora area

Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

For the Arora region to become the stage for the next Pokémon Legend, I think the biggest potential lies in the ecological environment here. In comparison, there are few game plots related to the Washy Area, but it has different maps to explore, both showing good ecological diversity and providing Pokémon with different habitats to roam freely. However, although the Arora region is made up of several islands with very different styles of painting (such as the tall snow-capped mountains of Ula Ula and the active volcanoes of Akala), in most cases will give players a taste of the tropics.

In addition to this, the world of Pokémon Sun And Moon is built on modern large-scale businesses and ideas, which is not very appropriate to the style of the Arora region. If the next Pokémon Legend game is built on such an environment, will the legendary Pokémon have a relationship with this region to achieve the same effect as Paluccia and Diya Luca and the Ennea region? But given that the arora region's culture is different from the rest of Pokémon World, with a distinctly Hawaiian cultural flair, the Arora region may be a potential frontier for Pokémon Legends.

4. Fengyan area

Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

Pokémon Ruby Sapphire is set in an interesting way, partly because it is extremely important to the Pokémon world, but also because the game lacks cultural heritage and anthropological context. Gulado and Gaioka are legendary Pokémon of the Fengyan region, and they hold up the earth and build the ocean. Despite the conflict between them, Liekong sat still and put the two sides to a deep sleep, but later in the game they are awakened. It's just that the human situation in the Fengyan region and the relationship with Pokémon are not clearly reflected. These elements are important to the history of the Toyoyan region, but I don't know how players think about this.

Are Pokémon and humans really a state of coexistence? Since Gulado and Gaioka were the creators of the elements necessary for life, how primitive were human beings at that time? Pokémon Ruby Sapphire actually hides a lot of questions that I want to explore in depth. But unlike the higher-ranking regions in this ranking, I couldn't clearly conceive of how the Pokémon Legend game in the Fengyuan region would unfold.

3. United Areas

Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

In Pokémon Legends: Arzeus, players can choose to use Palucia or Diya Luca as instigators of the division of the Washy Region. Although the final finale is the same, but the color is slightly different, this choice is still very important because it can determine the direction of the final showdown before the game finale. The United States setting also allows players to leave their mark on the history of the Pokémon Universe along with two legendary Pokémon CzechOsam and Lesiram.

Pokémon Black & White also describes the two dragon attribute Pokémon, which split from the same Pokémon and split them in two by a pair of twin heroes. They were originally of United Origin, but as the twin heroes diverged between their ideals, they split into two Pokémon, Czech Roma and Lesiram. This disagreement later led to the near destruction of the United States, leaving only the ruins of the ancient castle, where one of the twin heroes and the dragon who supported him built a new civilization.

Pokémon Black & White and its sequel Pokémon Black 2 White 2 contain a lot of content about the duality between Czech Roma and Lesiram, which are positioned differently depending on the version, and may even be described as the main villain in the history of the United States. But if we look back at the earlier history of the United States, we may be able to uncover deeper secrets and choose the party we support to evolve into one of the versions of Black and White. There have always been alternating timelines in the Pokémon series, as most of the games are released in both versions at the same time, and they have basically the same story, with only minor differences and different cover Pokémon. Pokémon Legends: Arzeus also takes advantage of this feature: the most attractive place in the game is when the player makes a major choice to decide the plot. If the next Pokémon Legend can take place in the United States, I believe it can continue to use this fascinating setting, developing two completely different timelines according to the player's different choices.

2. The City Capital Area

Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

One of my favorite episodes in Pokémon Legends: Arzeus is that the battle between Paluccia and Diya Luca intensifies, resulting in the destruction of the Temple of The Olympus, leaving only the ruins of the Pillar of Gun known as the Pillar of Gun in Pokémon: Crystal Diamond/Brilliant Pearl. This plot is similar to the plot reconstruction interpretation in the prequel work. Now, we don't need to guess what happened on this ruin, because we've seen the events of the past with our own eyes. Because of this content, I think the Johto area is a good fit to be the main stage for the next Pokémon Legend game, because as far as we know, it can carry the same amount of content.

The cover of Pokémon Gold is the master of three legendary Pokémon: The Thunder Emperor, the Thunder Duke, and the Water Lord. The three Pokémon, which originally had completely different forms, died in a fire at the Tower of bells. The Phoenix King resurrects the three nameless Pokémon, and they become the three legendary Pokémon that players are constantly pursuing in the Johto area in the hope of being able to subdue them. The fire of the Tower of Bells is also at the heart of the story between the Phoenix King and his companion Lokia. Lokia is also the cover pokémon of Pokémon Silver, which is said to have appeared on the scene when the Tower of Bells was burned down.

This legend has been passed down by word of mouth by historians in the Pokémon Universe, and there are differences between different versions of the legend. Therefore, this story is also very suitable as the plot of the Pokémon Legend game, which will also allow players to have a clearer understanding of what happened to the Phoenix King, Lokia and the three beast-type Pokémon. It can also explain the relationship between Lokia and the Pokémon of several bird-like legends in the Kanto region, after all, in works such as Pokémon Theater Edition: Pokémon of Illusion Lokia's Explosion, Lokia has been mentioned as their owner, but the content in the game makes it difficult for players to feel the connection between them.

First, the Carlos region

Where should the next Pokémon Legends game take place?

The main stage of Pokémon X·Y is perfect as the venue for the next Pokémon Legends game. It has the same level of historical significance as the Sinn Olympic region, which is what makes Pokémon Legends: Arzeus so easy to play. The reason Pokémon X·Y was listed as number one was not because its story contained content related to Pokémon gods, but because it touched on the lowest point of the relationship between humans and Pokémon: the Carlos War.

As mentioned in Pokémon X·Y, the Carlos War took place 3,000 years before the Pokémon game setting, causing the deaths of countless humans and Pokémon. As we see in Pokémon Legend: Arzeus, Pokémon training and battles are rare. As a result, these strange Pokémon have become weapons used by people in conflict. The Carlos War also led to the emergence of the Ultimate Weapon, which was originally intended to forcibly end the war and was at the heart of pokémon X·Y's plot. Unlike Pokémon Legends: Al Zeus, pokémon legends games based on the Carlos region are likely to end in tragedy, as this section does not end until the Timeline of Pokémon X·Y. But as a historically significant point in the Pokémon universe, it's far more important than most other events, which is why I think the Carlos region is best placed to be the next Pokémon Legends game story.
