Nintendo released its fiscal year 21-22 report at 3 p.m. Beijing time (from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022). As of March this year, the cumulative sales of Switch consoles reached 17.65 million units, and the software sold 822.18 million copies.

Nintendo's turnover for the fiscal year 21-22 was 1,695.3 billion yen, down 3.6% year-on-year, and operating profit was 592.7 billion yen, down 7.5% year-on-year. Nintendo forecasts a turnover of 1.6 trillion yen for fiscal 2023, down 5.6% year-on-year. Operating profit is forecast at JPY 500 billion, down 15.6% year-on-year.

During the fiscal year, the Switch, Switch OLED and Switch Lite showed a good balance between the three models, with a combined sales of 23.08 million units due to the stable overall hardware lineup. Although the March 2020 release of "Collection! Animal Friends was the main driver of hardware sales in the previous fiscal year, but this fiscal year was affected by shortages of semiconductor components and other components, resulting in hardware sales down 20.0% year-on-year.

During the fiscal year, Nintendo sold more than 1 million copies of 39 games. Software sales increased 1.8% year-over-year to 235.07 million copies, meeting expectations and becoming the highest year of Nintendo software sales to date. The Nintendo Switch sold strong digital downloads during the fiscal year, with a strong track record of bundle and add-on sales. Sales including the Animal Friends Association paid DLC, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition DLC, and related related sales related to the Nintendo Switch Online membership service also performed well, with sales reaching 359.6 billion yen, an increase of 4.5% year-on-year.
