Simplified translation: Guan Ning and Hua Xin dug up gold when they hoeed the ground, Guan Ning picked it up and looked at it and threw it away; there were dignitaries and dignitaries who noisily walked by the door, Guan Ning still read the writing homework, and Hua Xin left the books to see the hilarity. Guan Ning was not happy, and cut open the seat of the two people with a knife and said, "You are not my friend." ”
I just want to ask my friends today, when you hoe vegetables, you found gold (probably the more expensive copper at that time, in short, it was a valuable thing), will you pick it up? And Hua Xin just picked it up and looked at it, and threw it away, is this realm not enough?
Again, can you do it when you were a student without feeling all the hilarity? The World Cup is never watched, the game console is never touched, and the popular song entertainment program is never touched? The vitality and impulse of youth are not at all, is it normal?
Of course, it is certainly not okay to be half-hearted, but if a young man lives like a wooden man, it is basically certain that he is either nerdy or abnormal. What's more, Hua Xin is a famous scholar (scholar) of the Three Kingdoms, and "walking a god" has not had any impact on his studies and career at all, but it shows that he has the enthusiasm and vitality that young people should have.
In short, if you read it carefully again, you will find that Guan Ning is indeed a good student, but Hua Xin is not a bad student at all, and it can even be said that Hua Xin is a normal child, is it not?
It is a little strange, open the children's books large and small can brush up on this "cutting off the table" story, but what does it tell the children?
I think educators probably want to say: first, you can't be half-hearted in learning, you must turn your ears out of the window and read only the books of the sages; second, those who value money and wealth are not good children, stay away from them, and don't make friends with them.
Unfortunately, they completely chose the wrong story, "cutting off the seat and breaking off diplomatic relations" is not the same, Guan Ning and Hua Xin have no one right or wrong at all, the theme of this story is only one: the Tao is different and does not conspire!
Comparing the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", it can be seen that Guan Ning and Hua Xin did study together, but later embarked on different paths in life. Guan Ning was devoted to learning, determined to be a scholar and sage who was out of the situation, and had always avoided the misfortune of lecturing in Liaodong, and the evaluation of him in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms was: "Guan Ningyuan is elegant and noble, and indeed does not pull out."
Hua Xin always took the position of a high-ranking official and a heavy minister, and successively served as a senior aide to He Jin, Yuan Shu, Sun Quan, and others, and eventually became the backbone of Cao Cao's clique of civil officials. He was a complex and multi-faceted person, on the one hand, he was a clean and honest official, quite political, on the other hand, he was a powerful general of Cao Cao's usurpers, especially when he arrested Empress Fu, who was not soft-hearted, and pulled out Empress Fu's hair hidden in the cracks in the wall. (The historical material of the capture and murder of Empress Fu is doubtful in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and is only quoted, but in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and the opera," "Hua Xin Forced Palace" has been solidified and is a major play, so Hua Xin's opera appearance has always been a clown.) ）
After Cao Cao's death, Hua Xin became a major official at the core of power in the Cao Pi and Cao Rui dynasties, and was an official to Situ and Taiwei. In short, he is a natural politician, or a qualified politician. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms does not hesitate to praise him: "Huaxin Qing pure virtue,...... Sincerely all the time of The Handsome Wei also. ”
What is more interesting is that Hua Xin has always strongly recommended Guan Ning to the Wei Emperor Cao Pi, and in the era of The Wei Ming Emperor Cao Rui, he wanted to give up his position to Guan Ning, who he believed was a model of virtue and talent at that time. It turned out that the relationship between Guan Ning and Hua Xin was not at all as "stiff" as we thought!
Whether from the notes and stories or historical materials, we can see that in fact, the difference between Guan Ning and Hua Xin is mainly in the different demands of life, Guan Ning "retreats" and wants to be an absolutely pure hermit; and Hua Xin is "pragmatic", so he has to flash around in the eunuch sea and float with the waves. However, the difference between the two cannot be simply characterized as "three different views", although Hua Xin has been in the official arena, he has not lost the pursuit of ideals and beliefs, and when he is a local official, he is "quiet and not bothered, and the people feel and love it", and when he is a political leader, he pays more attention to the restoration of the country's ceremonial order.
In any case, Guan Ning and Hua Xin are still two cars running on the road, one is a pure idealist with a concept of right and wrong, and the other is a sleek but principled realist. The seat where the two sit together, even if not cut, has a natural crack.
In fact, what I want to say more is that the story of "cutting off the table and breaking off diplomatic relations" is not suitable for single-picking out to tell teenagers, and single-picking out will be suspected of taking it out of context and misleading readers. Also in the "New Language of the World", that is, in the following part of the "severing of relations", it is recorded that Hua Xin did a particularly commendable thing, and it is not too much to call him a gentleman.
One day, Hua Xin and Wang Lang were traveling by boat, there was a passerby who wanted to take their boat, Hua Xin was not very happy, Wang Lang said, the boat is still wide, let him come up, so he took this person. On the way, he suddenly found that there were water thieves chasing their boats, and Wang Lang was frightened, and quietly discussed with Hua Xin that he wanted to drive the boatmen into the river so that he could run faster. Hua Xin said: The reason why I hesitated just now is that I am afraid of encountering this kind of thing, and now that I have accepted the entrustment of others, and I want to abandon them, it is too unjust, so I want to escape together, and I want to finish together!
——Look, Huaxin is so principled in doing things! At the same time, we can also see that "The New Language of the World" is very, very appreciative of Hua Xin.
However, today, whether it is a person who chooses a story or a person who listens to a story, few people care about the ins and outs of the history of the characters, and they are often guided or even misled by a separate story.

I believe that almost all students, when listening to the story of "cutting off the table and breaking off diplomatic relations", will naturally and naturally think that Guan Ning is right, Hua Xin is wrong, and even use the most naïve thinking to determine that one of them is a "good person" and the other is a "bad person" (the adult world is called "gentleman and villain").
The terrible thing is that once children really take guan Ning as a "good person" as an example, they will unconsciously substitute for their own lives, deviating from normal human nature and emotions, and the more high standards and strict requirements, the more likely they are to become a stereotypical, boring, self-deceitful hypocrite (similar to a fool); and even after adult reflection, they will rebel against the water, thinking that this kind of story is purely deceitful. In fact, we have never understood the background and meaning of this story, that is, the essence. It can also be said that it is not this story that pits us, but the people who choose the story "pit" us.
After all, most of us are ordinary people, especially children, who find that the treasures in the soil will pick up, and when they encounter hilarity, they will look, this is the nature of ordinary people, it is the nature of children, there is nothing wrong at all! Why imply such an act as if it were a crime? We can't be wise hermits or dignitaries, their stories have no guidance, persuasiveness and empathy for the lives of ordinary people, and really taking this kind of story seriously will only make our children become stereotyped, paranoid, hypocritical, bitter, and unkind...
Of course, there is absolutely no problem in being a person like Guan Ning, but the first thing to obey is the self-heart, if it is true that the heart is like stopping water, indifferent to tranquility, regarding money as nothing, and not being shaken by red dust, then it is like Guan Ning to pursue excellence. The premise is not to "pretend", originally have the same human desires and nature as Hua Xin, but they must pretend to be as fresh and vulgar as Guan Ning, and under the pretense, it will inevitably lead to hypocrisy and distortion. You should know that "The New Language of the World" is all about the celebrities of the Wei and Jin dynasties, and the biggest feature of the Wei and Jin characters is the "Wei Jin Style", everyone has a different personality, naturally, a dashing style!
If we think of "cutting off the table" as a template for how to be a good student, it would be a big mistake.
