Domestic mobile phone manufacturers in the Greater Bay Area go to the sea to "catwalk", which is stronger in the high-end market?

On February 28, the much-anticipated MWC Mobile World Congress (MWC2022) opened in Barcelona, Spain. At this conference, China's major mobile phone brand manufacturers have successively announced new products or technical book release plans, and major equipment manufacturers and terminal manufacturers have also participated.

It is worth noting that this overseas event brought together many well-known enterprises headquartered in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, such as Huawei, Honor, ZTE, OPPO, TCL, realme, etc. They bring eye-catching new products and the latest technology, depicting the "group portrait" of domestic mobile phone manufacturers impacting the high-end market.

MWC is the "dream factory" of major mobile phone manufacturers and the "weather vane" of the global communications industry. In 2009, Huawei went from MWC to the world, showing off its first Android smartphone. At this year's conference, what will be the highlights of mobile phone manufacturers located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area? What kind of industry trend will the emerging technologies they show indicate?

Bay Area mobile phone manufacturers "going to sea":

Folding screen, photography, fast charging and other "black technology" debuted, technological innovation is the consensus

MWC2022 has become a "show" for major domestic mobile phone brands to display "black technology". At this conference, mobile phone manufacturers located in the Greater Bay Area focused on folding screens, photography, fast charging and other technologies, and a new round of competition for domestic mobile phone brands to impact the high-end market in 2022 quietly began.

Photography has always been the focus of high-end breakthroughs for domestic mobile phone manufacturers. The new flagship Honor Magic4 series released by Honor this time upgrades the photography technology and image engine, and for the first time, the mobile phone screen can have an eye protection experience on a more power-saving and smoother basis. At the press conference, Zhao Ming, president of Honor, repeatedly compared the Honor Magic4 Pro with the iPhone13 Pro.

Technological innovation and rising market share are also benefiting supply chain companies to a certain extent. Zhao Ming revealed that from 2021, Honor has fully resumed cooperation with industrial chain partners such as Qualcomm, Microsoft, Google, Samsung, MediaTek, and Tsinghua Unigroup. On the evening of February 28, the panel giant BOE with a market value of 180.7 billion yuan also said that the flexible screen of the Magic 4 series was supplied by it.

Mobile phone manufacturers OPPO and realme, also located in the Greater Bay Area, have chosen to make a big splash in fast charging technology. OPPO said that "on the basis of the flash charging architecture has been explored," launched a 240W super flash charging technology, which can charge a mobile phone equivalent to 4500mAh battery energy to 100% in about 9 minutes. Realme released a 150W lightspeed second charging technology, which claims to be able to achieve the result of "50% charging in 5 minutes", which is the fastest record in the industry.

How to ensure the safety of fast charging? OPPO revealed that "the longevity version of the 150W super flash charge is equipped with 13 temperature sensors to monitor the charging status in real time, and adopts a fused overvoltage protection circuit to ensure the safety of full-link charging." ”

In the "arms race" that hits the high-end, folding screen mobile phones are popular tracks nowadays, and TCL, an old mobile phone manufacturer located in the Bay Area, has also launched a layout. At the conference, TCL showcased two folding concept machines, namely TCL360-degree Ultra Flex and TCL Fold N' Roll. Compared with the folding screen mobile phones already on the market, the former combines the two forms of scroll screen and folding screen in one; the latter can achieve two-way folding. However, TCL did not announce the specific mass production time of folding products.

Help green carbon emissions and empower digital transformation

In addition to C-end products, the performance of various communication manufacturers in B-end commercial business is also the focus of the industry. At this conference, "5G", "green and low carbon", "VR/AR" and so on are the keywords.

How can Bay Area companies deploy in frontier areas such as 5G? Speaking of 5G commercialization, Ding Yun, managing director of Huawei and president of operator BG, said that operators will play an increasingly important role in leading the development of the digital economy in the future. "The 5G to B private network has been commercialized on a large scale in many industries in China, and Huawei and operators and partners have signed more than 3,000 commercial contracts for 5G industry applications."

In addition, green carbon emissions are also one of the important dimensions leading the development of the future digital economy. Song Xiaodi, Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei Operator BG, made a report on "5 Misunderstandings of Green Development" at the conference, once again emphasizing the concept of green development.

In addition to Huawei, ZTE also has a layout in the commercial use of 5G. ZTE has released the TPC (Time Commitment Communication) solution, enabling 5G wireless remote precision machine control. In addition, its 5G+ smart supply chain demonstration project cooperating with operators has also accelerated the commercial process of 5G in vertical industries.

For the urgent need for operators to save energy and reduce consumption in networks, ZTE released the GreenPilot green solution. Through site stacking, intelligent lithium battery, intelligent guidance of wireless services, modular data center, etc., the solution runs through the whole process of energy provision, storage, use and management, reduces the overall energy consumption of the network in all scenarios and intelligence, and helps operators build a green and low-carbon network.
