On April 17th, the 19th China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Festival (hereinafter referred to as "Guangzhou International Documentary Festival") held a press conference, and the list of excellent documentaries of Jinhong Cotton was officially announced.
In the end, 17 excellent works such as "1950 They Are Young" and "We Are Young" were awarded 12 excellent documentary projects such as "Excellent Documentary Specially Recommended by the Organizing Committee" and "Excellent Documentary Feature Film of Chinese Stories".

Tell the story of China to the world
Since 2015, the Guangzhou International Documentary Festival has specially selected and recommended documentaries that tell Chinese stories, record Chinese images, and disseminate Chinese contemporary values, with communication power, guidance and influence. Six documentaries, including "1950 They Are Young", won the honor of "Outstanding Documentary Specially Recommended by the Organizing Committee" of this year's Documentary Festival.
Among them, "Dare to Teach the Sun and The Moon for a New Heaven" expresses the feelings of political discourse in stories, uses the combination of grand narrative and microscopic portrayal, pays attention to excavating fresh materials and touching stories, and becomes a vivid image "big biography" of the cpc's century-old glory.

Since 2019, the Golden Red Cotton Excellent Documentary Selection has set up three evaluation options: "Excellent Documentary Feature Film of Chinese Story", "Excellent Documentary Short Film of Chinese Story" and "Excellent Documentary Series of Chinese Story", aiming to encourage more documentary creators at home and abroad to shoot and produce excellent documentaries that tell Chinese stories, spread Chinese culture and show the Chinese spirit.
The documentary "Landing and Taking Root", which reflects the mainland's poverty alleviation, won the "Excellent Documentary Feature Film of Chinese Stories" of this year's JinHongmian. In evaluating the film, British documentary filmmaker Kim Longinoto, the final judge of this year's Golden Red Cotton Excellent Documentary, praised it as an excellent documentary film, showing superb skills and humanistic dedication. The film's viewing process is a journey of emotional experience for her.
Show the world the three-dimensional bay area
According to the data analysis of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area film collection data of this year's Guangzhou International Documentary Festival, a total of 111 works from 7 cities including Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan and Zhongshan have registered for the competition.
Eight documentaries produced or co-produced by Bay Area institutions, such as "Run the Last Mile" and "Grow Up with You in the World", were shortlisted for final evaluation. Among them, "Growing Up with You in the World" won the honor of "Excellent First Documentary", "On Top of Chai Rice Oil and Salt" won the honor of "Excellent International Communication Chinese Documentary", "Running the Last Kilometer", "We Are Young" and "1950 They Are Young" won the honor of "Excellent Documentary Specially Recommended by the Organizing Committee".
The works of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are rich in themes and solid in content, which have been recognized by industry insiders, showing the creativity of documentarians and literary and art workers in the Bay Area and the capture of cultural documentaries.

In March this year, the Guangzhou International Documentary Festival officially launched the "Guangdong Story" documentary film incubation project, soliciting documentary short film shooting schemes for Guangdong stories with temperature and vitality from global documentarians.
"Understanding Guangzhou - 'Image Guangfu' Documentary Series Screening and Exchange Activities" disseminates Guangzhou's more than 2,000 years of history and profound culture through documentary screening and dialogue.
Documentaries are serving as the common language of the people of the Bay Area, Guangdong and Guangzhou, and the creators of the Bay Area use records as the medium to pay attention to real life, connect the common cultural identity of the people of the Bay Area, enhance regional exchanges, and highlight the characteristics of Southern Guangdong to the world.
Focus on the common destiny of mankind
In the international aspect, this year's Guangzhou International Documentary Festival has collected 3670 documentaries from all over the world to participate in the competition, of which foreign films account for 82.3%, and the competition is very fierce.
In the end, the Danish documentary "Reunion" won the honor of "Excellent Documentary Feature"; the Dutch documentary "The Silence of the Tides" won the "Excellent Director Documentary"; and the Indian work "Writing with Fire" won the honor of "Excellent Documentary Specially Recommended by the Jury";
"Excellent Documentary Short Film" was awarded the Spanish documentary "Mama Zavadi"; the British documentary "The Garden of Eden: The Last Secret" won the "Excellent Documentary Series"; and the documentary "Nowhere to Go" co-produced by Hong Kong, France and the Netherlands won the honor of "Excellent Sino-Foreign Co-production Documentary".

Chen Hong, chairman and senior editor of the final jury of the Guangzhou International Documentary Festival and deputy director of China Education Television, said that the current uncertainty in the world is prominent, risks and challenges are increasing, and war, terrorism, nuclear pollution, ecological deterioration, epidemic of major infectious diseases, and scientific and technological ethics are common problems facing all mankind.
The winning works of this year's Golden Red Cotton Excellent Documentary Selection fully reflect the fine tradition of the vast number of documentarians around the world who are not absent in major events, pay attention to the social reality, and pay attention to the community of human destiny.
