The 19th China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Festival, jointly sponsored by the State Administration of Radio and Television and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, is the only national professional platform in China with documentary investment, financing and trading functions, the pulsating vane of China's documentary industry - the official release platform of national industrial policy and international development trend, and a comprehensive cultural event integrating evaluation, pre-sale, training, forum and market content. After 19 years of hard work, the China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Festival has repeatedly set new records in terms of the number of films collected, participating institutions, attention, and participating countries and regions around the world, and has become the largest documentary professional festival in Asia.
The China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Festival began to set up the "Top Ten Documentary Promoters in China" program in 2013, aiming to recognize institutions and individuals from all walks of life who have made outstanding contributions to documentaries. All along, they have insisted on using documentaries to carry social responsibilities, actively play the positive guiding role of documentary works, and make many documentary works burst out of different vitality and innovation.
This year is the ninth year of the award of "China's Top Ten Documentary Promoters" by the China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Festival, and the candidates include universities, content production platforms and broadcast platforms, as well as related media and cultural institutions, and Straits TV is the only mainland TV media among them.
As a content production platform and broadcast platform, Straits Satellite TV has actively explored the way of creating high-quality documentary content for many years, put forward the creative concept of "small incision, good word of mouth, positive energy", continued to create an original content boutique IP cluster, produced about 200 episodes of documentaries annually, disseminated hundreds of millions of networks, won a number of documentary awards, and won the title of the top five national excellent documentary production institutions of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of China in 2020.
Under the background of the integration of Taiwan and the Internet, Straits Satellite TV has continuously developed new models of documentary creation and content operation, and jointly launched documentary masterpieces such as "Breakfast China", "The Daily Life of Literature" and "Next Meal" with Tencent Video and Youku. After the merger of Southeast Satellite TV and Strait Satellite TV to establish the Fujian Provincial Radio, Film and Television Group Satellite TV Center, in 2021, the center launched "circle-breaking" works such as "Above Chai Rice Oil and Salt" and "China Is So Beautiful" directed by the well-known British director Ke Wensi, capturing the light of the times from the most subtle points. Among them, "Above chai rice oil and salt" won the "Excellent International Communication Chinese Documentary" award at this international documentary festival.
The 100-episode short video documentary "Breakfast China" shows the stories of Chinese breakfasts and breakfast shops in a lifestyle-oriented and network-rich way, which arouses people's universal emotional resonance, Tencent Video's single network playback has exceeded 830 million, Douban score of 9.2, won the best micro-record work of the China Documentary Academic Festival, the 2019 annual documentary of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television in charge of "Variety News", the exhibition works of the 7th China Online Audio-visual Conference, and the annual audience selection program of Tencent Video.
Focusing on the feelings of home and country, fireworks in the world, and youth expression, the Satellite TELEVISION Center of Fujian Radio, Film and Television Group has always been actively exploring a new paradigm of cooperation between television institutions and new media, and has made continuous efforts to create more high-quality excellent works. On April 21, the second season of the documentary "The Daily Life of Literature", jointly produced by Southeast Satellite TV, Straits Satellite TV and Youku Video, will be launched, following Liu Liangcheng, Yu Jian, Li Xiuwen, Shuang Xuetao, Li Er, Chen Yan and other 6 literary artists and their friends to "walk literature" in the journey of literary fertile land, discussing the world, people's hearts, reading, and destiny.
This year, in addition to the fourth season of "Breakfast China", the satellite TV center will also launch a six-episode large-scale documentary "Above the Field" reflecting the theme of rural revitalization, a three-episode documentary "Wuyishan Our National Park" reflecting the construction of ecological civilization, etc., and undertake the "New Era, New Image" Chinese and foreign directors joint creation plan and the "Hai Silk" international communication documentary conference, so as to actively create an important window for the international community to understand the Chinese spirit, Chinese values and Chinese strength.
