Fuel cell vehicles are electric vehicles that run on the electrical energy generated by fuel cells, so its official name is FuelCell ElectricVehicle, that is, FCEV is the correct name. But because the name is so long, we generally call it a fuel cell vehicle or FCV. When the driver depresses the accelerator pedal, hydrogen flows from the hydrogen storage tank into the fuel cell. In gasoline-powered vehicles, the degree to which the accelerator pedal is pressed regulates the amount of air flowing into the engine. Similarly, in fuel cell vehicles, the amount of hydrogen flowing into the fuel cell as a power generation device can be adjusted. The fuel cell generates electricity according to the amount of hydrogen, and the current is passed into the motor, which drives the motor to rotate.
Fuel cell vehicles rely on the forces generated by the rotation of electric motors to move forward and accelerate. Fuel cell vehicles are known as the "ultimate eco-friendly car" because they use hydrogen and oxygen to generate electricity. After the chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen to generate electricity, hydrogen and oxygen combine to form water, rather than emitting harmful substances like the engine burning gasoline and light oil, which is very conducive to protecting the environment. In addition to water, hydrogen is also found in petroleum (including gasoline, kerosene, propane gas, etc.), natural gas, and ethanol (substances called biofuels, etc.).
Therefore, hydrogen can be obtained from various raw materials, which can be described as "inexhaustible". Oil and gas as an underground resource are limited. Based on its reserves, it is estimated that it can be mined for 40 to 60 years, and energy conservation is imminent. When these fuels are burned, carbon dioxide (CO2) is produced, exacerbating global warming trends. Fuel cells that use hydrogen emit only water after generating electricity, so the burden on the environment is very small. From this point of view, in the next 50 to 100 years, fuel cell vehicles can become the ultimate environmental protection vehicles, whether they do not use underground resources or from the perspective of improving the global environment.
