(600031, hereinafter referred to as Sany Heavy Industry) held a demonstration and commissioning ceremony for the application of heavy trucks in Fujian Province yesterday in Ningde, Fujian Province. Ningde Times told the surging news reporter that the Funing trunk line put into operation this time will pass between Ningde City and Fuqing Jiangyin Port, with a one-way distance of 175 kilometers, and the future plan will be to build a power exchange network throughout Fujian Province, and the specific next step of planning will be gradually officially announced.

On the same day, Times Electric Service Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Times Electric Service"), a subsidiary of NINGDE Times, signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation with Fujian Expressway Group's High-speed Energy Development Co., Ltd., in which the two sides will establish a joint venture company to jointly build a high-speed power exchange network in Fujian Province, promote the construction and operation of substations in Fujian high-speed service areas and depots, and expand related businesses in neighboring provinces in a timely manner.

In addition, Ningde Transportation Investment Group Co., Ltd. also signed a strategic investment agreement with Ningde Times Co., Ltd.

According to catheter times, heavy trucks, as a major carbon emitter in the field of transportation, are imminent to fully promote electrification. In addition to environmental protection issues, the most worrying thing for users is the operational efficiency problems caused by slow charging, difficult charging, and anxiety about battery life, and the current charging mode cannot really solve the user's pain points, so the power exchange mode came into being.

The power exchange mode of the Ningde era is supported by four major innovation systems, and takes "electrification + intelligence" as the core development direction, providing efficient power exchange solutions for heavy truck application scenarios such as trunk line transportation, urban infrastructure, and port transportation, and actively promoting the transformation and upgrading of electrification in the transportation industry.

It is worth noting that the Ningde era has been deeply cultivated in the field of heavy trucks for many years. In July 2020, the delivery ceremony of the first batch of heavy-duty truck vehicles cooperated by CATL and Foton Zhilan New Energy was held in Beijing, which was also the first commercial application scenario of heavy-duty truck replacement in China. In August 2020, the first batch of Valin replacement heavy trucks in Shanghai equipped with catheter era battery system were delivered to Lingang New City, and these replacement vehicles include tractors, dump trucks and offset terminal vehicles.

Although electric vehicles consume less energy at low speeds, they still consume more energy at high speeds than conventional fuel vehicles. Considering the economic benefits, the application of heavy trucks in the trunk line transportation scenario is not much at present, mainly used in short-distance transportation scenarios in closed areas such as ports, terminals, and parks. The commissioning of the Funing trunk line marks that the Ningde era has entered a new stage in the field of power exchange.

At the power exchange brand conference in January this year, CATL launched a combination of "chocolate power exchange blocks" for the power exchange business. Since the battery is mainly for the passenger car market, it adopts a ternary lithium battery with a higher cost and energy density than the lithium iron phosphate battery.

According to relevant people in the Ningde era, the space of heavy trucks is larger, and the requirements for the volume energy density of the battery are lower. Considering that commercial vehicles are more sensitive to cost issues, the electric trunk heavy trucks and muck trucks released this time use a lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 282KWh, and more batteries of different specifications will be introduced in the future.

The large-capacity lithium iron phosphate battery selected by the Ningde era can not only achieve zero emissions and zero pollution, but also meet the high-power fast charging, achieve rapid power replacement within 3-5 minutes, overcome the anxiety of heavy-duty truck vehicles in charging time and mileage, and greatly improve the efficiency of vehicle operation.

CATL said that in the future, with the deepening of the trend of electrification, new energy replacement heavy trucks will be fully rolled out in many scenarios such as trunk line transportation, mines, urban infrastructure, ports, factory logistics, etc., becoming an important breakthrough for the mainland to achieve the "3060 goal" and accelerating the arrival of the era of comprehensive electrification.

According to the data of the first commercial vehicle network, in January 2022, the sales volume of new energy heavy-duty trucks in China was 2283 units, a substantial increase of 1318% year-on-year, of which pure electric models accounted for more than 99%. Sany Group ranked 8th in January sales with 153 licenses, with the top three being XCMG Heavy Truck, Yutong Group and Hanma Technology.
