Looking for the source of the Yellow River, aiming at the sea

——Han Jingwei's choice and enterprising on the road of art

Professor Du Zhesen of the Central Academy of Fine Arts

Excerpt from the commentary: "'Walking thousands of miles', 'master's method of creation', 'searching for qifeng to make drafts' were originally important creative ideas of successive generations of painters, but in the aesthetic photography of nature, ancient and modern painters are more likely to look at its majestic and beautiful side, and few people depict those ordinary scenes and plain images, especially the barren and rough loess slopes, it is more difficult to win the favor of painters." And Han Jingwei walked down the Yellow River, what he saw was this natural landscape that did not enter the eyes of the painter, where there were few cangyan snow training, lake light and sail shadows, but more than the barren slopes of the tuling mountains, the huts and caves, and those ordinary people who were born in Si, loved Si, and old in Si. Compared with those green mountains and green waters, it seems that there is a lack of that charming power here, but when you throw yourself into its embrace and listen to its breath, you will find that there is a touching and profound thing here, this is an uncut jade, an unpolluted pure land, and there is a supreme beauty in its simplicity, just as Jia Youfu said when talking about the beauty of the Taihang Mountains: 'Compared with those strange peaks and strange caves, strange branches and strange stones, I prefer the ordinary scenery of the mountains and villages, they are like the crops who are not good at talking, like the shy village girls. Its beauty is intrinsic and has yet to be discovered. Han Jingwei must have also observed and understood these things, so he approached it with this spirit of 'nine deaths without regret', praised it, and created nearly a hundred works that condensed his love and affection. ”

"Because these landscapes and customs are rarely expressed by previous generations, so the existing artistic language can not be simply applied, such as the various methods in landscape painting can not be directly used to depict the specific landform vegetation here, the composition rules in the traditional landscape are not applicable here, and the practical problems encountered in creation force the painter to explore a new artistic language and find a new picture composition." In this way, what Han Jingwei has done is not only to broaden the traditional creative mode, but also to change people's aesthetic psychological stereotypes with this new language and composition, and to guide people into the field of beauty he has discovered.

From Han Jingwei's works, it is not difficult for us to see that he has made bold changes in the concept of form and god, time and space expression, meaning composition, and even the pen and ink chapter method in traditional painting, the inherent rules and laws can be broken here, all he values is how to fully express what he sees, thinks and understands, and his painting style is like the water of the Yellow River that nourishes his art, allowing his own temperament and potential to run freely on the vast land; Like the "Northwest Wind" pop song that once swept the country in the eighties, it is so strong, rough, warm and pure. Compared with traditional painting, Han Jingwei's Chinese paintings do have a certain "wildness", but this is where the vitality of his art lies, and it is the character and advantage that only the artistic echelon of their age can have. ”

"Han Jingwei's Chinese painting can be said to be a creation that concentrates the artistic qualities of professional painters, the lyrical techniques of folk art, the meaning of traditional art and the modern composition of Western art."

"His Chinese paintings are field and lawless in the use of brushes, random dyeing in black (color), and vertical and horizontal in composition, but they give people the feeling of seeing posture in rough head and chaotic clothes, and showing their skills in the middle of nowhere, quite a sense of turning decay into magic, and inadvertently seeing the artistic characteristics of Huixin." From his works, people were surprised to find that on this very ordinary loess slope, there were such rich colors, such a thick volume, such a profound artistic conception and such touching feelings, sweeping away the desolate and desolate and dull old impression on the high slopes of the loess in people's concepts, and the long slopes of the high ridges and the hut caves here are full of vitality and poetry everywhere, and fresh, bright, quiet, and eternal constitute the main theme of Han Jingwei's Chinese painting creation. There is no trace of decadence and sadness in the work. The use of various colors highlights this feature even more. The clever use of red, blue and green colors makes the picture very bright, especially the use of pure white to outline the forest and baking atmosphere with a boneless method, which makes the work appear particularly refreshing and clear, refreshing and heartfelt. ”
