Are you still worried that the KTM 390 ADV doesn't have wire spoke wheels? Are you still worried that the KTM 390 ADV doesn't have long stroke damping? I think soon you'll get your wish, because manufacturers have thought of this too, and the new KTM 390 ADV is already being tested. Recently, a group of road test photos of the new KTM 390 ADV were exposed abroad, let's take a look at what changes have taken place!

Spy photos show KTM developing a more hardcore 390 Adventure model, which was secretly captured by KTM during testing at its base in Austria. Take a closer look and you'll find a new frame and new suspension. One of the reasons KTM prefers tubular steel lattice racks over aluminum chassis is that they are easy to upgrade and modify. For this test prototype, KTM didn't even add a layer of paint to the metal, and the surface rust may not look pretty, but considering that's the reason for the test car, obviously no additional polishing spray work is required.

The new frame itself shares the overall design with the next-generation 390 Duke, and compared to the chassis currently used on the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure, the new design is similar to the more traditional frame style that Ducati has used for decades. Currently, both 390 models have a thick upper frame tube on either side from the swing arm pivot to the steering head, and a reinforced lattice frame made up of thinner tubes hangs underneath it. In the new design, the upper and lower mains are the same thickness, and the metalwork between them is thinner and has a triangular layout to improve rigidity.

This meant that a unique alloy bracket was required on each side, and much longer than the bracket of the current model, to reach the front bracket of the engine. We've already seen this design on spy photos of the next generation 125, 250 and 390 Duke, and it looks like it will be used in future off-road models as well.

The test car's swingarm, made of cast alloy, features a fan-shaped external support on the banana-style right arm instead of the current semi-skeleton form. On this test car, however, the swingarm appears to have been machined from aluminum billet and appears to be more curved, in order to increase the ground clearance and suspension travel required for off-road models; the exhaust also appears to have changed slightly, becoming thinner and more compact.

With 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tires on the wire spoke wheels, the new KTM 390 Adventure may offer the same option given that the existing 1290, 890, and 790 Adventure series are all available in standard versions of alloy wheels and R versions of steel wire spoke wheels.

The front and rear suspensions also appear to have been lengthened, the front and rear fenders are farther away from the wheels, and the specifications of the front brakes seem to have improved. Since the new car is still in rough prototype form, the project may take another one to two years to complete. Foreign sources indicate that the new KTM 390 ADV may appear on the market in 2024 as a 2023 model.
