In 1956, Guo Moruo drafted a report on the request to develop the Changling Tombs in the Ming Tombs. Changling is the burial place of Ming Chengzu Zhu Di and his empress, and is the largest mausoleum among the Ming Tombs, known as the head of the Ming Tombs.
Guo Moruo's idea of developing the Ming Changling Tombs has long been there, and at the same time, a large number of cultural figures such as the famous Ming historian Wu Han and the literary zheng zhenduo are not in harmony with Guo Moruo's idea of advocating the development of the Ming Changling Tombs, and they have only one goal - the Yongle Canon.
In his report, Guo Moruo pointed out that excavating the Changling Tomb may lead to the mining of the Yongle Canon to make up for the lack of cultural level in our country. In fact, it is mainly Guo Moruo's selfishness, because once the Yongle Canon is discovered, it can also make his achievements in literature a step higher.
After the report was handed over, after repeated discussions by the relevant departments, it was finally decided to excavate the Ming Chang Mausoleum.
After guo Moruo received a positive reply, he immediately formed an archaeological team and began to investigate near the Ming Changling Tomb, and as a result, nearly a month passed, and the entrance to the Changling Tomb was not found. In desperation, after discussion, the Changling Excavation Committee decided to develop a relatively small mausoleum first. Xianling is the mausoleum of Zhu Di's son Zhu Gaoxu, and there is no other purpose in choosing the xianling, one is that the xianling is relatively close to the Changling, and the other is that the xianling is relatively small. The archaeologists walked around the xianling for more than ten days, but they did not find an authentic entrance.

On this day, an old man dressed in shabby clothes came to the residence of the archaeologists, who claimed that there was an ancestral tomb book in the family, which wrote that on the other side of the Vajra Wall, was a river of life and death, and only those who matched the eight characters of the Wanli Emperor could cross it by boat on the river.
The old man told people not to dig this tomb, otherwise the consequences would be very serious and they would be punished by heaven.
The excavation work fell into a stalemate for a while, and everyone did not dare to take this risk, but Guo Moruo and others still insisted on excavation, and the archaeological excavation work had to continue.
A few days later, the archaeologists finally dug through the dungeon, but immediately from the dungeon came a pungent black smoke.

They jointly opposed the continued excavation of the Ming Tombs. This matter caused a national sensation, and the central government also suspended the continued excavation of the Ming Tombs.
At this time, to the surprise of everyone, Guo Moruo once again submitted a request to the central government to request the development of the Ming Chang Mausoleum, and as a result, he was reprimanded by Premier Zhou, who instructed him not to make sufficient plans in the future, and not to easily excavate the imperial tomb, which was regarded as the protection of cultural relics.
This matter should have come to an end, but some of the archaeologists who participated in the excavation of the Ming Ding Tomb died of disease, some died mysteriously, some committed suicide, and some plane crashed. None of these archaeologists died. The Ming Tombs became the most mysterious existence in the Chinese archaeological community.
