Zhuang Wanzhu introduces the Qing Dynasty garden of the Chen family.

No. 22 Jingang Lane is the former residence of Chen Guozhen, a famous doctor in Quanzhou at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the house was renovated in 1992, but there is a Qing Dynasty garden in the backyard that has been preserved, and the wide stone arch bridge is now difficult to see in Quanzhou people's homes.

According to Chen Guozhen's daughter-in-law Zhuang Wanzhu, the ancestral home of the Chen family is in Daitou, Quanzhou, Chen Guozhen's father Chen Bingsi is a successful businessman, in 1930, he founded Taili Iron Factory at the mouth of Jingang Lane, using imported iron as raw materials, employing Xiamen, Shanghai, Guangdong masters, producing all kinds of iron tools, becoming a pioneer of modern iron processing in Quanzhou.

Although his family set up a factory, Chen Guozhen embarked on the road of practicing medicine, he opened the "Taiming Hospital" at the entrance of Shuimen Lane on Zhongshan South Road, with a clinic and pharmacy, and bought the Lin family's ancient house and a large piece of land in Jingang Lane as a residence, which is now No. 22 Jingang Lane.

Chen Guozhen was born in a medical class, and has a physician certificate approved by the Department of Internal Affairs and Health of the Republic of China Government, and the brochure of Taiming Hospital shows that the hospital has a registration fee of five yuan, a house visit registration fee of one yuan, a surgical registration fee of two jiao, and a surgical dissection (general anesthesia) from two to ten yuan. If the patient is confirmed to be from a poor family and cannot afford medical treatment, he or she will be granted free of charge.

Chen Guozhen's medical skills are excellent, and after years of research, he has successfully formulated "Stomach Trane", which is exported to the province and Southeast Asia. During the Anti-Japanese War, he published "Chen Guozhen's Anti-Japanese Relief Enlightenment" in the newspaper: "This time Japan issued a mobilization order, occupied the three eastern provinces, killed compatriots, and hated the whole country. ”
