Hello everyone! I'm Shen Shao! The annual 618 shopping festival is coming soon, and I believe that many friends want to take advantage of the preferential activities to buy a reliable e-sports monitor, with the lowest possible budget, to get a smooth gaming experience, and take into account daily use.
2-3 years ago, such a demand often required a budget of about 2000 yuan to start an all-round and versatile "Little King Kong" display. However, with the rapid development of the market in recent years and the emergence of various "volume king" products, this year's 618 partners only need to hold a budget of about 1,000 yuan to make a move. It just so happens that I have 3 big names in the industry on hand, so I took the opportunity of this 618 to see how they actually perform and what is the difference in the use experience. Here are the three players who will be judged today: HKC G27H2, Philips 27M2N5500 and AOC Q27G2S/D.
Overall image quality performance
First of all,The picture quality of the three monitors is quite strong,After all, they are all small King Kong products used by each family,2KThe resolution is native180HzHigh refresh rateThese are standard configurations。
At the same time, all three monitors have passed the HDR 400 certification, which has a good improvement when playing 3A picture quality masterpieces and watching HDR HD Blu-ray movies on a daily basis.
In terms of eye protection, all three displays also support low blue light, but HKC is a hardware low blue light, which is more guaranteed than AOC and Philips' software low blue light.
In terms of perception,The three monitors as a whole are passable,After all, they all have factory color calibration,DeltaE ≤2,As a game monitor, this color accuracy level is very sufficient。
The color gamut is overlayed, respectively:
HKC G27H2:95% DCI-P3
AOC Q27G2S/D:99% DCI-P3 色域容积,换算下来大概是97%的色域覆盖
飞利浦27M2N5500:93.5% DCI-P3
Comparatively speaking, AOC has the widest coverage. However, if you actually look at it, you will find that even if you put them together, the difference between the three is still very small, and they are all quite good.
On the one hand, this is due to the fact that the content on the Internet is still dominated by the sRGB color gamut, and all three displays can be well covered:
HKC G27H2:100% sRGB
AOC Q27G2S/D:99.8% sRGB
飞利浦27M2N5500:99.5% sRGB
The second is the one mentioned earlier,The three monitors also have factory color calibration,All are under the sRGB color gamut,So they can be competent for certain retouching、Create video creation needs,Daily games and watching movies are not a problem。
Gaming, esports, and related technologies
As a gaming and e-sports monitor produced by a major manufacturer, the image quality alone is only one aspect, and all three monitors have some characteristic technologies that enhance the gaming experience.
Among them, players should be most interested in the technology to remove motion blur. In this regard,The three are still different,Philips27M2N5500 and AOC Q27G2S/D are all usedMBR technology,It is a public version of the scheme,There is a certain effect,But it will reduce the overall brightness of the game screen,The use experience is average。
HKC G27H2 uses exclusive DIC technology, and I will feel that the effect of eliminating motion blur is better in my actual measurements, and the brightness of the picture has not decreased significantly, and the overall experience is better.
I have to say that in general, targeted self-developed technology will still be better than public solutions.
In terms of eye protection, Philips and AOC both use common software low blue light in the industry, which is more economical, but the feeling of yellowing the screen after opening is more obvious, relatively speaking, HKC's hardware low blue light is more effective, and the perception is also better, and it can be always on when surfing the Internet and processing documents.
In terms of VRR, both HKC and AOC monitors support G-Sync Compatible and FreeSync VRR technologies, which have a good anti-tearing effect. Philips said in the introduction that it uses Adaptive Sync technology, which should be the same, but to put it another way.
In addition, features such as low latency, auxiliary crosshair, and dark enhancement are available to everyone, and they are standard for gaming monitors. But I have to say here that Philips, the white secondary crosshair, does have a bit of a low contrast in many game maps with white walls.
The HKC and AOC also have frame rate displays, which are great for gamers and reviewers who are concerned about real-time frame rates.
Appearance analysis
I believe that seeing this, many friends have also discovered that there are also some differences in the appearance of these three displays.
Although they are all 27-inch products and three-sided narrow bezel design,But HKC's sense of immersion and integration is the strongest,Philips has a more obvious power indicator in the lower right corner (fortunately, it can be turned off),AOC There is a red retouching line at the bottom,Some friends think it's quite handsome,But I also saw some friends point out that this affects the positive visual immersion a little bit,I don't know how you feel?
However, the more important difference is that these three models also have their own ideas in terms of base design.
In fact, I personally feel that the hexagonal base of HKC G27H2 is the most suitable for gamers, not only has a small footprint, but also is concentrated.
In this way, when playing some FPS games, you need to place the keyboard diagonally and place the oversized gaming mouse pad, it is very open, which can leave more space for the mouse.
AOC uses a V-shaped base, and the space gray base painting looks sharper, but it occupies a large horizontal space, which is not conducive to oblique keyboard.
It can only be placed on the outside, and it is easy to press the mouse pad, which is not as versatile as the small base of HKC.
Philips is more "narrow and long", the stand extends widely, the advantage is that the stability is really strong, but the other two are also quite stable, the disadvantage is that the keyboard is more difficult to swing. If you are a hardcore FPS player who is used to playing with the keyboard obliquely, you can consider installing a third-party monitor arm after buying this monitor.
The design of this Philips stand is not that solid color style, but there is some mottled feeling, there are some irregular small particle traces, and it is smooth to the touch. Whether it's beautiful or not, I feel like it's a matter of opinion.
In addition, the top of the Philips stand has a protruding design that is used to hang headphones.
In terms of control, both HKC and Philips are multi-function OSD buttons, which are in line with expectations. Among them, the HKC G27H2 is the most convenient five-way joystick. The Philips 27M2N5500 is a four-way joystick but cannot be pressed, so the operation logic will be more complicated than HKC's. AOC Q27G2S/D I don't know why I still use 5 independent OSD buttons, and it feels hard, and it is embedded in the inside of the bezel under the screen. Not only is it more laborious to operate, but it is also easy to accidentally press the power when pressing the menu and turn off the monitor directly.
In addition, all three monitors support vertical screens, and the use scenarios are still relatively wide.
Details of use
In terms of details,HKC and Philips have an EasyRead mode,You can achieve a black and white effect close to the ink screen,It's quite interesting to read a book,If you play games, I personally think the visual impact will be weaker。
HKC has a similar e-book mode, but the effect is to make the whole screen gray and white with a little warm yellow feeling, which is indeed more eye-friendly.
Philips' power indicator has a strong sense of presence, but fortunately, it can be turned off in the OSD menu.
AOC's power indicator is relatively small, but there is no option to turn it off, which still has some impact on some friends who are sensitive to light.
AOC I don't know what the sRGB mode of this monitor is in, and it is hidden in the "color temperature" option.
And the brightness is locked at 70 gears, and the use experience is average.
Summary & Purchase Recommendations
In the end, let's summarize it as before,Let's talk about the conclusion first,These 3 monitors have good product power,If you are using any of them,You will have a good experience。
However, on top of meeting the benchmark requirements of the 3 small King Kong products of 27-inch 2K high resolution + native 180Hz high refresh rate + HDR 400 certification, there are still some differences in the details of the three displays.
● Game Screen Motion Blur Removal: HKC's DIC exclusive technology > AOC = Philips' public version of MBR technology, the advantages are not very different, but it does, and this feature is very important for FPS players
● Monitor stand: HKC's hexagonal small base (the hinge cannot be adjusted left and right, but because the base is small, you can turn the base directly) > AOC's V-shaped base (the texture and appearance are not bad, but it is inconvenient to place the keyboard obliquely)> Philips' large Y-shaped base (and the material is still more mottled)
● Color gamut coverage: DCI-P3 as the benchmark AOC > HKC > Philips, but the gap is 1-2%, which is difficult to perceive when actually playing games
● Eye protection: HKC's hardware low blue light > AOC = Philips' software low blue light
● In terms of details, Philips has multiple earphone stands, multiple black and white EasyRead modes; HKC has an e-book mode with screen eye protection; AOC's OSD is still a "retro" key mode that is laborious to operate, the menu is messy, the power indicator can't be turned off, and the sRGB color gamut mode also locks the brightness, and the experience needs to be strengthened.
The most important price aspect, the current AOC Q27G2S/D price is 1249 yuan, and the Philips 27M2N5500 price is 1199 yuan, to be honest, the cost performance is already very high. But HKC this directly achieved the price of 999 yuan,Directly pulled the price of the 27-inch full-blooded version of the small King Kong display to within 1,000 yuan,Plus DIC technology,Small base bracket,Hardware low blue light These unique skills,It is the most recommended one for me at present。
AOC Q27G2S/D The overall design is handsome,Brightness、Color gamut coverage is excellent,In addition to the OSD menu, the experience is general and sRGB lock brightness,There are no obvious shortcomings,But the price is also more expensive200,The cost performance is slightly weaker,Plus the stand is not very suitable for the keyboard obliquely,In this horizontal evaluation, it ranks second comprehensively,It is also very good。
Philips27M2N5500 also has a good comprehensive performance, but there is no particularly big highlight in the game, in the color gamut coverage, the bracket design is ranked third, the price is more expensive than HKC200, only 50 yuan lower than AOC, in addition to the black and white modeEasyRead, the overall performance is decent, not outstanding, but it can definitely be chosen.
Well, that's all for this review. I hope to have a reference for friends to buy an easy-to-use and reliable gaming monitor. Thanks again for reading, I'm Shen Shao, we'll see you next time!
