【Beijing Tan Temple Architecture 4 Temple of Earth】The Temple of Earth (Fang ZeTan) was built in the ninth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1530), and is the second largest altar in the "Five Altars", covering an area of 37.4 hectares in the north of the Forbidden City (Andingmen Outer Street). It is the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties sacrificed the "imperial god". From the whole to the part, it is conceived and designed in accordance with the ancient Chinese traditions and symbols such as "Heavenly Round Place", "Heavenly Blue And Yellow", "Heavenly South and North", "Dragon and Phoenix", "Qiankun", etc., and is equipped with buildings such as The Fangze Altar, the Imperial Chamber, the Pavilion of the Slaughtered Animals, the Zhai Palace, the Archway and the Shrine. From 1531 to 1911, the Ming and Qing dynasties celebrated here for 381 consecutive years, making it the altar of the longest and largest existing shrine in history. In 1925, it was set up as Jingzhao Park, and in 1957 it was rebuilt as "Ditan Park".
