However, what many people don't know is that in fact, the history of some Chinese characters is less than a hundred years old, and some Chinese characters experienced a period of turmoil at that time when they were invented and created, such as the following word is very common in our daily life, but it has only appeared for less than a hundred years, and this word is "she".
Before the Republic of China, there was no such fine division of the titles of men and women, and at that time, "he" was used to describe men and women. However, since the end of the Qing Dynasty, a large number of international students went to the West to accept various Western ideas, and the understanding of Western culture also had a great impact on the traditional Chinese culture of Confucianism.
Just in 1915 AD, China, with Lu Xun, Cai Yuanpei and other well-known scholars, jointly launched a cultural activity to advocate "anti-Confucianism, anti-literary language", and instead advocated the use of vernacular and so on.

In the face of huge pressure of public opinion, Liu Bannong was not knocked down by these, he finally persevered and appealed in many ways to hope that the majority of women could accept it, but there were still insulting voices that have been attacking him, and this voice has never stopped for several years.
Until 1932, the Ministry of Education adopted Liu Bannong's suggestion and incorporated the word into the dictionary, and the attacks and insults on him gradually stopped.
