Xie Mian's "In the Face of the New Rise", Sun Shaozhen's "New Aesthetic Principles are Rising" and Xu Jingya's "Rising Poetry Group", known as the "three rises" of the poetry world, marked the official entry of obscure poetry into the poetry world.

However, the good times of obscure poetry are not long. By the mid-1980s, obscure poetry had been greatly questioned, known as the "Third Generation Poetry Movement." The Third Generation Poetry Movement is "a general term for the phenomenon of poetry characterized by dissatisfaction and subversion of obscure poetry as its basic characteristic value orientation.".
The third generation of poetry "presented an anti-rational, anti-sublime, anti-heroic tendency" and advocated "colloquial language" in creation. The result of the third generation of poetry movement was the colloquialization of poetry. The main genres are non-African writing, intellectual writing, their writing, and heroic writing.
Further subdivisions, there are "nonsense poems", "lower body writing" and so on. Overall, the third generation of poetry movement was fundamental to the fact that modern poetry became the situation it is today. The third generation of poetry originally came from the folk, and after decades of development, it has now become the mainstream of the poetry world and has an important voice in the poetry world.
The third generation of poetry movement took "dissatisfaction and subversion of obscure poetry as the value orientation", thus using "colloquialism" as a means of creating modern poetry. In fact, this doomed the movement to be too strong at the beginning, that is, to overcorrect. In the early stages, such a force is necessary. But later, it has continued this fierce force, and even developed from "colloquialism" to "nonsense" and "lower body", which is the performance of the car.
After entering the twenty-first century, the participants of the third generation of poetry movement have become the main force of poetry. But the works of the Third Generation Poetry Movement, like obscure poetry, were initially questioned. This kind of doubt has become louder and louder since then. Now, in addition to their own persistence, it has reached the level of verbal criticism.
The "short-lived" of obscure poetry shows that the original "three rises" are not entirely correct. The questioning of the works of the third generation of poetry movements actually shows that this movement has led modern poetry astray.
In fact, in the 1990s, Wang Guozhen's poetry was a compromise work in the middle of the obscure poetry and the third generation poetry movement. However, due to the serious tendency of Wang Guozhen's poetry to be sloganized, not only has it not been recognized by obscure poetry, nor has it been recognized by the third generation of poetry movements, nor has it been recognized by the poetry world, I also feel that Wang Guozhen's poetry cannot be counted as poetry.
However, Wang Guozhen's poetry actually points out a direction for the development of modern poetry. That is to rhyme, to have a certain philosophy, to have a certain "positive energy". As long as it is not so obviously sloganized, modern poetry should be like that.

The development of poetry is not black and white, nor is it a straight line, but like the development of other things, it is a tortuous and circling process. Modern poetry has gone through the first generation, the obscure poetry, the third generation, and now it is time to summarize and be eclectic.
We must find out the advantages of the various stages of the previous poetry and clean up the shortcomings. Embrace the strengths of each stage and discard their shortcomings. We cannot blindly sing praises and praises, we cannot blindly shout slogans, nor can we be too obscure, too colloquial, and we cannot be nonsense and lower-body.
Modern poetry should still retain the basic properties of rhyme, and should have enlightening meaning and implicit beauty. Of course, such modern poems will be more difficult to write, and not only people who can wrap lines can become poets. In fact, this is also the right thing to do, not everyone can become a poet, poets still need to have a threshold.
We cannot reject anything because we oppose it. The third generation of poetry made this mistake, because against obscure poetry, it is impossible for poetry to be hazy at all, and it must be straightforward. In the same way, we oppose the third generation of poetry movements and cannot return to the old path of obscure poetry.
The pinnacle of our poetry is on the Tang and Song dynasties. In fact, we can build on this. We don't have to strictly adhere to the requirements of the law of equality, nor do we have to strictly follow the requirement of the same word count. However, it can retain its rhyming characteristics, and sentences can be long or short, but with a certain sense of rhythm.
In fact, Song Ci already has such characteristics, we can relax the requirements, and we do not have to strictly stick to those words. Did this become modern poetry? This is not only the right path for modern poetry, but also the second development of traditional poetry. Our modern poetry can only have a way out if it is developed on the basis of inheriting traditional poetry.
From obscure poetry to the third generation of poetry movement, from the third generation of poetry movement to the return to traditional poetry, it seems to be a detour, in fact, this is also the inevitable development of modern poetry. Without such a detour, without such an exploration, how can we find the direction of modern poetry?
It is not right to blindly cling to obscure poetry, it is not right to blindly cling to spoken poetry, and it is not right to blindly adhere to traditional poetry. Only by innovating and developing on the basis of inheritance is the way out for modern poetry, and it is also the only feasible way for modern poetry to find the correct path of development.
