According to the official news revealed at the bydir Dolphin conference before, the new cars launched by the BYD Ocean series will be such as "sharp and moving seals", combined with the positioning of the medium-sized bridge car, it is not difficult to infer that the car will most likely become the mass production version of the earlier Ocean-X concept car. Coincidentally, many details in the spy photos also confirm this conjecture. The first is the shape of the front and headlights, although the test car in the photo is covered by tight camouflage, but it can still be faintly distinguished that its overall proportions and design details are highly related to the Ocean-X concept car.
In addition, the pictures on the side of the car show that the rear suspension length of the new car is significantly longer than the front suspension, and its front brake calipers have a rear layout, which are obvious features of the rear-drive model. Therefore, this new car may become the first pure electric sedan of the BYD brand to provide the form of rear-drive drive.
It is reported that the car or will be based on BYD e platform 3.0 to build, according to the internal information disclosed online, its length, width and height or 4770 * 1860 * 1460mm, thanks to the pure electric platform architecture, its wheelbase or will reach the level of 2900mm. In addition, from the photos of the bottom of the car, it can also be found that in order to reduce the quality of the spring and improve the handling, the related parts of the rear suspension are made of aluminum alloy, and the integrated barrel chair in the interior is also more in line with the sports positioning of the car.
In terms of power and endurance, according to the information disclosed so far, seals may provide both single-motor models and four-wheel drive dual-motor models that provide rear-drive in the future. The rear-drive low-power version has a maximum power of 150 kW (204 hp), the high-power version has a maximum power of 180 kW (244 hp), and the total power of the front and rear axle motors of the four-wheel drive model may reach 360 kW (490 hp). In addition, the car will also be equipped with BYD blade batteries and will support 800V fast charging technology.
According to BYD's product planning, the brand may launch a sedan seal in the first quarter of 2022, with a price range of 150,000-200,000 yuan, and a seagull positioned as an entry-level mini car in the second quarter, with a price range of 60,000-80,000 yuan. In the third quarter, the pure electric medium-sized SUV Haishi will be launched, with a price range of 200,000-250,000 yuan.
