DEADLINE NEWS: Ridley Scott oversees the live-action series Blade Runner 2099, which is in development at Amazon
Amazon is working on a live-action series set in the Blade Runner universe, Blade Runner 2099, and Ridley Scott, the famous director who directed 1982 Blade Runner, will be the executive producer of the show. The work will be the sequel to Blade Runner 2049, directed by Dennis Villeneuve in 2017.
Silka Luisa, the co-ordinator of the Apple TV+ series "Shining Girl," will be the writer and producer of the sci-fi series. Alcon Entertainment and Scott's Scott Freelance Productions will be co-produced with Amazon. In an interview with the BBC last November, Ridley Scott said he had already written a pilot episode and reference for the show; the show was expected to be 10 episodes long for 10 hours; and FX Radio's Alien episodes had similar 8- to 10-hour-long benefits.
