Four times in two weeks! Tesla recalled 579,000 vehicles due to problems with the pedestrian warning system

After experiencing the rapid development of 2021, Tesla has encountered a lot of trouble in 2022. Recently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a message on its official website that Tesla needs to recall nearly 579,000 cars in the United States because the speaker function of the vehicles cannot clearly convey sound warnings to pedestrians, and there are safety hazards.

NHTSA said in a related statement that the vehicles involved in the recall are equipped with Tesla's "Boombox" speaker function, which allows drivers to play custom sounds outside the car while the vehicle is moving. However, there is evidence that Tesla's feature will affect the vehicle's "pedestrian warning system" and may prevent the vehicle from issuing a warning tone to pedestrians. According to U.S. law, this behavior violates federal safety standards, so Tesla is required to recall the vehicles involved. The agency said Tesla may upgrade the recalled vehicles involved and will temporarily disable the relevant "Boombox" speaker function.

This isn't Tesla's first recall in the new year. In the past two weeks, Tesla has conducted a cumulative total of four recalls. Just two days ago, Tesla recalled more than 26,000 cars in the United States because a software bug could lead to a decline in car defrost performance. In early February, Tesla also recalled 54,000 vehicles and 817,100 vehicles because of safety hazards in the "rolling parking" function and seat belt reminders, which is also Tesla's largest recall program to date.
