Tesla is being watched by regulation! 4 recalls in 10 days, the reason is too strange: drivers are prohibited from "farting"

Feb. 10 -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued a safety recall notice for 578,600 Tesla vehicles because some of the features of the vehicle's outside pedestrian low-speed warning system and Boombox, a speaker feature carried by Tesla, do not meet the standard.

According to NHTSA documents, federal motor vehicle safety standard No. 141 (FMVSS 141) outlines the performance requirements for pedestrian alarm sounds for hybrid and electric vehicles. These recalled Teslas do not meet the minimum sound requirements for electric vehicles in the federal motor vehicle safety standards, and manufacturers are required to prohibit changing or modifying the sound of the vehicle's pedestrian warning system.

In addition, NHTSA believes that while the Boombox feature does not contradict the pedestrian warning system, it violates federal safety standards that require electric vehicles to emit pedestrian warning noise, and requires Tesla to disable the feature.

It is reported that on December 24, 2020, Tesla officially launched the "Boombox" function, which allows the driver to change the car horn sound, the driver can choose to fart, goat call and other sounds, instead of the regular car horn sound, you can also simulate the sound effect spoof in the car.

Since February 3 this year, Tesla has recalled three times due to hidden dangers such as "rolling parking" function, radar buzzer and glass defrost, with a total of nearly 900,000 vehicles recalled. After this recall, it is already the fourth recall of Tesla Motors in the United States in the past 10 days.

It is worth mentioning that the above 4 recalls will be completed in the form of OTA online upgrades, and car owners do not need to go to Tesla after-sales. And these 4 recalls have not yet involved the Chinese market.
